According to a friend of Meghan Markle, she has complained to some of her closest acquaintances that she was not treated equally to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, during her time in the UK.
The Duchess of Sussex stated that if Prince William‘s wife/Duchess of Wales was to be targeted by the British media like she was, then the Royal Family would have defended her.
The friend told the Daily Mail: “[Meghan said] no one would have put up with it, and the broken and outdated system would have been revised. Those outlets responsible for their vicious attacks would have been shut out. Harry had constantly talked to Prince Charles and the Queen about Meghan being bullied by the press, and they wouldn’t do anything to change the protocol.”
The pal went on to reveal: “Meghan said they made it seem like this is the way it is, deal with it. Harry had been dealing with it far too long. She said he wasn’t going to let this destroy her life and their marriage.”
The former senior royals recently made headlines when it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan would stop any collaboration and engagement with four major UK media outlets, one of which is the Daily Mail.
Even though the decision of the Sussexes was unexpected for many, the 37-year-old former actress supposedly stated that “no one in the royal family should be surprised with the announcement.”
According to Meghan, it was unfair that the royal family did nothing to protect her from the constant media scrutiny and criticism, despite Prince Harry’s numerous pleas to his father and grandmother to do something about it.
However, it appears that the Duchess of Sussex was displeased that “Harry’s very real and valid concerns fell on deaf ears” and that “he wasn’t going to let this destroy her life and their marriage.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex surprised the world at the beginning of the year, as they stated they would step down from their duties as senior royals and would try to live on their own.
The royal couple also explained that they could live anymore “in good faith under the current system….and if it wasn’t revised and updated to their liking, they would have no other choice than to break from the royal family.”
It has been confirmed that Meghan and Prince have been living in a multi-million dollar Beverly Hills mansion owned by Madea mastermind and media mogul Tyler Perry. It seems that Oprah Winfrey helped the couple settle in the home.
