Michelle Obama has been revealing many secrets about her family while in quarantine in their mansion in Washington, DC.
The former first lady has a new podcast where she tackles various topics. Still, the program mainly focuses on her life, struggles, and happy times with her husband, Barack Obama, their daughters — Sasha and Malia Obama.
In the latest episode, the former attorney said that the Obama family has come up with a relaxed routine to stay sane while in lockdown because of the coronavirus has made it impossible to travel, have large gatherings, or even go to the movies and restaurants.
Michelle revealed that her two daughters, Sasha and Malia, both college students, were forced to return home after COVID-19 pushed education to become virtual.
Malia, 22, is a third-year student at Harvard, while Sasha, 18, had just started her first year at the University of Michigan.
To fight boredom, Michelle revealed the many activities that her family takes part in and the cute routine they have put in place.
The Democrat explained: “Barack’s in his office, making calls, working on his book. I’m in my room. The girls are on their computers. Sometimes we’re outside, if the weather permits, but we’ve developed this routine of, you know, we don’t really worry about seeing one another in the day. Right around five o’clock, everybody comes out of their nooks.”
Michelle stated that there are many benefits to having her daughters at home.
She shared: “It’s an unburdening for them. You know, I don’t know if they’ve articulated it. But there is a calm in them. It’s almost like — they needed the world to stop a little bit. They didn’t realize that they were, that the world they were on and the way they were living it, was so treadmill-like, so fast and furious. Because it was all, they ever knew.”
While Barack is bonding with Sasha and Malia, he is also aggressively competing against them when they play games.
She shared: “Barack has taught the girls spades, so now there’s this vicious competition. They wouldn’t have sat down, but for this quarantine, to learn how to play a card game with their dad.”
Michelle has recently revealed that in part because of President Donald Trump‘s policies, she is now suffering from “low-grade depression.” Many have applauded her candid approach in her battle against mental health issues.
She is expected to speak at the Democratic convention in two weeks.
