A very talkative Miley Cyrus has been making the rounds to promote her newest track, “Midnight Sky,” and sharing too many details about her private life while at it.
Cyrus dropped the bombshell that she lost her virginity to Liam Hemsworth at the age of 16 and shared the biggest lie that she told him.
The 27-year-old singer and songwriter made an explosive appearance on Barstool Sports podcast Call Her Daddy, where she revealed that she felt like a loser being a virgin and told Hemsworth that she slept with another person.
The actress and her now ex-husband met while working on the movie, The Last Song. Cyrus and the Australian actor had an on-and-off relationship for more than ten years and finally married in late 2018 only to file for divorce seven months later.
She said this about having sex for the first time: “I didn’t go all the way with a dude until I was 16, but I ended up marrying the guy.”
The former Hannah Montana star revealed how she got caught in her web of lies: “I couldn’t think of anyone, so I just made somebody up that I knew, but we’d never actually had sex before. His friend ended up marrying him, so then he was like, ‘Now my friend is marrying someone you’ve hooked up with.’ When I was like 24, I had to say that I lied when I was 16. It was a lie that I held onto for ten years.”
A source close to Hemsworth revealed that he reacted to the surprising interview in this manner: “Liam is about moving forward. His life and relationship with Miley had so much meaning, and he learned so much from it, but now that chapter is over. He has moved on, he has grieved, and he is now in a great place to take on a great future. He is not going to pay attention to what Miley sings or says about him. He is letting her do what she wants and rising above it.”
The friend went on to say: “Liam is living his life and has moved on, so it’s a shame that the relationship is being dragged into the spotlight again, but there’s not much he can do, so he’s just trying to ignore it. It helps that he’s in Australia, he’s got his family all there, he’s got his friends, and he’s got Gabby. He’s good.”
The pal continued: “Liam and Miley haven’t spoken in quite some time. They were both heartbroken over the ending of their relationship and saw the ending as quite different as far as what went wrong. It’s safe to say Liam isn’t giving Miley’s current relationship or what music she’s putting out any thought.”
Some are wondering if Cyrus had an idea in her mind when she shared that confession.
