Are the Sussexes and the Cambridges reconciling across the miles? Prince William and Prince Harry did not seem like the best of friends last Christmas, but this appears to be different this holiday season.
It has been an eventful year for the Royal Family, despite the setbacks of the coronavirus pandemic. In January, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced they would be quitting their public duties as royals, later moving away from the British royal estate and settling in California, U.S.A.
This year, Meghan also publicly shared that she and Prince Harry had experienced the miscarriage of their second child, which prompted Prince William to reconnect with his brother, and Kate Middleton to reach out to Meghan.
An insider reported that Prince Harry and Meghan have already sent Christmas gifts to Prince William, Kate, and their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
A source spoke to royal reporter Katie Nicholl who revealed to Vanity Fair: “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are on better terms with the royals–specifically Prince William and Kate Middleton, whose relationship with the Sussexes is much better than it was.”
The royal insider went on to explain: “I have no doubt they will be video calling each other over Christmas.”
The royal brothers are also expected to have a video call with each other at Christmas, a move which would indicate they are putting their differences aside.
Prince William and Prince Harry have attracted much media attention in recent years, most prominently due to Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan.
Royal biographers have said the rift between the brothers began when Harry started dating Meghan, as Prince William reportedly told him to take it slower.
Referring to Meghan as “this girl,” the comments are thought to have offended Prince Harry and created a barrier between the two brothers, which only deepened over several years.
Earlier this week, the Queen announced the “new firm” of eight senior royals representing the Royal Family from next year at public engagements and worked together to advance causes close to their hearts.
Prince William and Kate are unsurprisingly among the line-up, while Prince Harry and Meghan remain absent.
A friend of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke to Entertainment Tonight Canada and revealed that Harry was not missing much in London and added: “There are certain things he misses, but nothing so much that he regrets moving. He’s found a kindred spirit in Meghan, and they are creating a new life. That’s so very exciting for them both.”
The pal also shared that the power couple has some big plans for 2021. The person familiar with the situation added: “I think they are very excited about what’s to come. There are so much people didn’t expect them to be able to do, but they are seeing out the year in their new home with Archie with a very significant deal with Netflix under their belts. They actually feel excited about the potential and standing on their own two feet.”
Royal fans are hopeful that the two brothers will be able to build on the recent progress.
