It is never a good idea to try a gotcha question with a presidential candidate’s wife, especially when that spouse is Dr. Jill Biden who happens to hold a bachelor’s, a master’s degree, and a doctoral degree.
On Sunday, Dr. Biden appeared on CNN, where she did an interview with Jake Tapper, who quizzed her about the “gaffes” that her husband, Joe Biden, makes.
Dr. Biden was ready for the question and schooled the journalist.
The Democratic presidential nominee’s spouse was quick to remind the anchor that President Donald Trump is a gaffe machine who forgets dates, places, people, and even called his wife, Melania Trump, by the wrong name at least twice.
Dr. Biden shut down the question by explaining: “Oh, you can’t even go there. After Donald Trump, you cannot even say the word gaffe.”
Tapper asked: “I can’t even say the word gaffe?” She responded by: “Nope. Done. It’s gone. Over, so over.”
President Trump has been making the wild claim that Biden has been using drugs to enhance his debate performance. Trump has gone as far as demanding that Biden take a drug test.
Dr. Biden had this to say about the first general election presidential debate: “Oh, my gosh, yes, he’s ready. You know, one of the things I am excited for is when the American people see Joe Biden up there on that stage, they’re going to see what a president looks like, someone who is, like I’m saying, calm, steady, strong, resilient. It’s like night and day between the two candidates. And so I can’t wait for the American people to see Joe, to see that statesman up there in front of the American public.”
Via social media, Trump renewed his request that Biden takes a drug test before the Tuesday debate.
POTUS tweeted: “I will be strongly demanding a Drug Test of Sleepy Joe Biden prior to, or after, the Debate on Tuesday night. Naturally, I will agree to take one also. His Debate performances have been record-setting UNEVEN, to put it mildly. Only drugs could have caused this discrepancy???”
Kate Bedingfield, Biden’s deputy campaign manager, had an eyepopping answer to Trump’s accusations.
She said: “Vice President Biden intends to deliver his debate answers in words. If the president thinks his best case is made in urine, he can have at it. We’d expect nothing less from Donald Trump, who pissed away the chance to protect the lives of 200K Americans when he didn’t make a plan to stop COVID-19.”
The statement went viral and had some Trump critics laughing.
