Many royal fans were surprised by Prince Charles‘s choice of a photo that accompanied the sweet birthday message for his grandson, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Like many royal family members, the future king opted to share a public message for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s son as he celebrated his second birthday.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William posted pictures that featured Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, along with their first child, on his special day.
However, Charles, Prince of Wales, selected a black and white photo of the day of Archie’s christening.
The picture features three generations of Mountbatten-Windsor — the Duke of Cornwall, Prince Harry, and baby Archie.
Absent from the picture is Meghan Markle, and hundreds of supporters and critics of the Duchess of Sussex, were quick to call out her father-in-law for the snub.
A social media enthusiast penned to remark: “Probably the last time Prince Charles has seen this child.”
Another royal fan chimed in: “Glad there’s no photo of the duchess of me me me here.”
A royal expert has revealed that Prince Charles shared that controversial picture as a “deliberate” snub to Meghan Markle.
Many royal insiders have explained that Prince Charles is the angriest royal family member after discovering what his son and the former American actress had to say during their controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey.
He picked that picture to send a clear message to the new California residents — he is angry.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe explained: “It’s pretty daft to leave her [Meghan] out of it given that it wasn’t that many weeks ago she was American TV throwing accusations about the royal family left, right, and center.”
The royal expert claimed: “I see that as a deliberate sign of Prince Charles. Surely Prince Charles has enough nous to know how sensitive the situation is with his younger son and wife. I’d be very surprised if Prince Charles didn’t know exactly what he was doing.”
It has been reported that Prince Charles is stubborn and is upset that Prince Harry spoke negatively about the monarchy during the Oprah sit-down, and he “may never forgive.”
A source said that “the way things are going, Charles may never forgive Harry.” Prince Charles’s post came amid reports that he barely knows his third grandson, who left England, moved briefly to Canada, and later to California while he was still a baby.
A royal insider shared: “The truth is the Prince of Wales has barely seen his grandson twice since he was born. In fact, every member of Harry’s family can easily count on one hand the number of times they saw Archie after he was born and before the family left the UK. It’s a very sad situation.”
Prince Harry returned to London for Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh‘s funeral, and he attempted to repair his relationships with his brother, Prince William, but a series of leaks in the media made that impossible.
Observers say while progress has been made, it will take some time before the two siblings get close again.
