Prince Harry has shared two announcements in a matter of days that confirmed that he will not be in England for his grandfather’s tribute but will attend the Invictus Games in The Hague, Holland.
The Thanksgiving Service for the late Prince Philip will take place on March 29th at Westminster Abbey.
Plans are underway for Queen Elizabeth II to attend the event. Elizabeth II, who recently battled COVID-19, has problems walking, and she has refused to be pushed around in a wheelchair.
It is believed that a special door will be opened for Her Majesty to be present with her family, including Prince William and Prince Charles.
While the royals have made an effort to stand by the aging Queen Elizabeth, the Duke of Sussex has shared a brief statement explaining that he will not be able to travel to his home country later this year.
It is believed that Meghan Markle‘s husband bowed down from the service because of security concerns.
He has recently taken his lawsuit against Queen Elizabeth’s government to the High Court because he is not permitted to pay for private security when he travels to England.
In a lengthy statement, Prince Harry’s legal representative had previously claimed that while England will forever be his home, he does not feel safe to bring his wife and children there because the protection from Scotland Yard officers is not enough.
Many royal experts slammed Prince Harry for snubbing Queen Elizabeth and using the security issues as excuses to bail from the event.
Prince Harry’s biographer, Angela Levin, told The Sun: “He has snubbed the Duke of Edinburgh, but really he is snubbing the Queen.”
She added: “He has got this all wrong. If he comes over for a royal event, he gets police protection. What they won’t do is, if he goes out with his friends, he gets security.”
However, a security expert, who has worked with the royal family, has stepped out to vindicate Prince Harry by saying that his concerns are legitimate.
CEO of Intelligent Protection International Limited Alex Bomberg explained that Prince Harry, who is sixth in line to the throne, is facing threats and therefore needs the protection that he has requested.
The former protector of the royal family said: “[Harry] is a royal prince of Great Britain. He is Prince Harry. He is still a prince of Great Britain. The fact that he’s stepped back from royal duties is beside the point — he’s still at risk.”
Bomberg also said that Prince Harry, a former soldier, should continue to receive protection in California even if he has stepped down from his royal duties.
He also stated that he thinks that Prince Harry will win his lawsuit and added: “In America, he has armed protection. He’s footing the bill for that. Those guys cannot come over here and work. Even if they have licenses to, they cannot carry firearms. He needs that level of protection here. He’s still a prince of the United Kingdom. He’s not a private citizen.”
He went on to say that the Prince is entitled to a high level of protection and concluded by: “He has just stepped back from royal duties. I think he has a chance because he’s entitled to this security, and he’s offering to pay for it.”
Time will tell if this prediction is accurate.
