In an official statement, Prince Harry has revealed that he, his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet Diana, will travel to England to attend Queen Elizabeth II‘s Platinum Jubilee.
The former soldier confirmed that his baby daughter, Lilibet Diana, would finally meet her great-grandmother.
Lilibet Diana will also celebrate her first birthday in the UK with the royal family, including Kate Middleton and Prince William.
Prince Harry and Markle’s spokesperson said: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honored to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children.”
Prince Harry was quick to confirm his presence in London minutes after Queen Elizabeth announced that he and Markle would be banned from appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Queen Elizabeth has decided that only working royal members would have a spot on the balcony.
The official statement read: “After careful consideration, the queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance … will be limited to her majesty and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the queen.”
The Palace spokesman went on to explain why exceptions were made for a few nonworking royals such as Prince William’s children: “In addition, the Cambridge and Wessex children are also expected to appear, as is Sir Tim Laurence, who the Queen is happy to attend as a frequent attendee and support for the Princess Royal on official engagements.”
For several weeks there was a lot of chatter about Prince Harry and his family taking part in Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee.
Prince Harry has been involved in an ongoing dispute with the Queen’s government over security arrangements.
The royal renegade said that he and his family do not have access to adequate protection when they travel to the Uk.
The security row with the British government caused him to miss his grandfather, Prince Philip‘s memorial service in March.
However, royal insiders have confirmed that Prince Harry has been able to score a unique arrangement with Queen Elizabeth’s government for his and his family’s security.
Markle was able to test the breakthrough hybrid security put in place for them when they briefly traveled to England in late April for private meetings with Her Majesty and Prince Charles.
Sources revealed to the Daily Mail what the unique plan entails: “The couple brought over their own private bodyguards from the US but stayed on the Queen’s Windsor estate and received a Special Escort Group (SEG) detail when traveling outside.”
An insider went on to tell the media outlet that Markle and her husband approved of the new plan.
A well-placed source told the Mail: “Harry was fairly pleased with the way the operation worked [when he and Meghan came to Windsor] and the liaison between his security team and the Met. He believes it means a workable solution can be found, allowing him to come over with his children as early as the Platinum Jubilee.”
The person said they believed Prince Harry would back down from his legal fight and would use this new security plan when he and his family attend the Jubilee this summer.
