Charlize Theron has decided to open up about her life and impressive Hollywood career like never before.
Theron is featured in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar. She has starred in hundreds of movies and is one of the world’s highest-paid actresses. She has also produced several projects.
Theron’s career expands over 27 years, and thanks to her undeniable talent, she has topped the box office, won an Oscar, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and one Golden Globe Award.
During her conversation with the fashion bible, the North Country star took a hard look at the fame she has achieved and made the surprising confession that she believed she would go further.
Charlize Theron told the publication that her rise in the film industry had always “been a mediocre ride.”
The mother of two also claimed that a few years ago, when fame and status mattered, she had a tough time understanding why she was not as popular as Kim Kardashian.
Reality TV shows have made Kim Kardashian a billionaire, a household name, and a fashion brand with 330 million followers on Instagram. She causes chaotic scenes with the paparazzi when she steps out.
The White and the Huntsman actress, who once craved that popularity, explained: “I feel like I’m at a place where it is what it is. Working more isn’t, I think, going to change my level of fame. I’ve never been one of those people that’s at a Kim Kardashian level. But I feel like it’s just always been this thing.”
Charlize Theron went on to say that she believes that because she was not a big name, it might have hurt some of the goals she wanted to fulfill as an actress.
However, with age comes wisdom — and Theron confessed that she is no longer interested in the popularity contest.
She shared: “I will say, back in the day, it used to be like, you want to have some of this fame so you can go make the s–t that you really want to make. But now it’s like, I pitch s–t all day long, and people are like, ‘No, thanks.’ I’m like, ‘I guess that’s not cash in the bank anymore.’ And that’s nice.”
She continued: “It’s nice that you’re making things on the merit of how good they are versus this idea of, like, ‘Oh, you’re this thing, and we want to be in business with that thing.'”
Charlize Theron said that she is now content with being a mom to two loving children.
She also confessed that nothing is more rewarding than preparing a home-cooked meal for her daughters — Jackson, 10, and August, 7.
Theron concluded: “When my kids say, ‘Mom, nobody makes pasta better than you,’ nothing gets close to that. I don’t ever need them to be like, ‘Oh, you’re in that movie.'”
She is known globally as a top actress.
