As the new Sovereign of England, King Charles III made moves and took decisions that will leave an imprint on the monarchy for decades to come.
However, His Majesty is also making gestures that will directly impact his family — in good and bad ways.
This week, King Charles made a grand gesture towards his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, and pulled the rug under his brother and disgraced royal, Prince Andrew.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, was rewarded for being loyal, keeping Queen Elizabeth II‘s legacy alive, and putting a positive light on the monarchy.
Throughout this complicated year due to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s incendiary accusations, Middleton has remained poised, gracefully but most importantly, silent.
She performed her royal engagements in the UK and the United States immaculately.
She toured various foundations and met with heads of charities to praise their works and encourage them to continue fighting to improve the world.
As her uncle, Gary Goldsmith, said, Middleton is always “perfectly perfect” in the face of duty and adversity.
For that, King Charles announced that Middleton would be given the new honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards title.
The prestigious title was previously held by her husband, Prince William. He was gifted the title when he got married in 2011 by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The appointment implies that Kate Middleton will be doing what she has been doing for years — but now she will be dressed and recognized for it.
Middleton and her husband always celebrate St. Patrick’s Day holidays by traveling to Aldershot in Hampshire, England, to honor the Irish Guards regiment.
The duo will continue to take part in the town’s special parade, meet with the guards and joke around with the regiment’s mascot, an Irish wolfhound named Seamus, and conclude the celebration with a Guinness toast.
As for Prince Andrew, now that his mother is no longer there to shield him, King Charles pulled out his sword of punishment and made sure that he paid for his sins.
King Charles brought down the hammer on Prince Andrew, who brought shame to the Royal Family by getting deeply entangled in the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.
Between a trainwreck interview, a humiliating trial, and costing the royal family more than $5 million to end the sordid affair, Prince Andrew has infuriated The King.
His Majesty retaliated heavily by evicting Prince Andrew from his office located at Buckingham Palace and told him he could no longer use the address.
He had a private office with a staff of 4 or 5 people, including an admin secretary and a communications secretary, some of whom were based at the office.
A source told The Sun: “Any presence at the palace is officially over. The King has made it clear. He isn’t a working royal. He’s on his own.”
Prince Andrew will no longer benefit from taxpayer-funded Metropolitan Police protection because he is not a working royal.
King Charles plans to make at least one kind gesture towards Prince Andrew — pay $4 million for private security.
The Monarch and his brother are set to have an awkward reunion over the holidays.
The entire Royal Family, minus Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, will join King Charles for Christmas at Sandringham on Sunday.
