Prince Harry is not the only member of the Royal Family to leave King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort, boiling with anger.
Reliable sources from Buckingham Palace recently spoke to The Daily Mail. They revealed that Camilla, Queen Consort, and King Charles were frustrated by Prince William‘s hasty decision to mingle into the embarrassing racist drama involving his godmother, Lady Susan Hussey.
In early December, Lady Susan Hussey, who served as late Queen Elizabeth II‘s former lady-in-waiting and is a close friend of Camilla, Queen Consort, created a massive scandal for Buckingham Palace and derailed Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s important U.S. trip.
During a charity event hosted by Camilla, Queen Consort, Lady Susan Hussey introduced herself to Ngozi Fulani, chief executive of a London-based domestic abuse charity.
According to Fulani and other witnesses at the event, Lady Susan Hussey bombarded her with racist questions about Africa and her “people.”
As King Charles and The Firm dithered on how to handle the embarrassing situation, Prince William, onboard a plane heading to Boston, Massachusetts, was quick to issue a fiery statement slamming his godmother.
Lady Susan Hussey was forced to resign and apologize for her words and actions. According to The Daily Mail‘s Becky English, many inside The Palace walls were in disbelief and unhappy with how Prince William made the situation worse.
The writer and royal expert shared: “Some at Buckingham Palace felt the situation was ‘unhelpfully’ inflamed by Kensington Palace’s ‘over-hasty’ decision to enter into the fray with a public pronouncement on the row.”
A spokesman for
Becky English revealed that many, who disagreed with Prince William, showed their exasperation.
She stated: “He is right, of course, and there was sympathy that the incident came as he was about to embark on a high-profile visit to the U.S. But it was deemed perhaps an ‘unnecessary’ intervention at a particularly delicate moment for the royal household, according to several with knowledge of the situation. However, this was, it must be stressed, more a case of internal eye-rolling than any full-scale row in what has proved to be a strong partnership between the King and the heir to the throne.”
King Charles is the one in power, which is why despite The Prince of Wales’s unhappiness with the racist incident — Lady Susan Hussey will be invited to the state coronation on May 6.
A source told The Sunday Mirror: “Lady Susan received private support from friends during the aftermath of what happened. Some politely canvassed the suggestion Lady Susan should be made welcome at the coronation. It was pointed out the many years of service and duty she gave the Queen, to whom she was a loyal confidante. With relations now smoothed over between Buckingham Palace and Ms. Fulani, the King is now able to extend an invitation to Lady Susan.”
King Charles demonstrated his authority by arranging a meeting between the two women at the Palace, during which Lady Susan Hussey apologized.
The Monarch later issued a statement saying that the case was closed.
