Meghan Markle took a page from Tyler Perry‘s playbook and avoided a rather humiliating situation with her children.
This week, Prince Harry finally announced that he would travel to London solo to attend King Charles‘s fancy coronation ceremony.
The event will take place on May 6th. Prince Harry decided to be present for His Majesty, while Markle has opted to stay in Montecito, California, with her two young children, Archie and Lilibet.
Sources claimed that Markle became upset by how King Charles treated his biracial grandchildren.
According to reports that surfaced via The Daily Beast, King Charles had not planned to invite Archie and Lilibet to the coronation.
He was not interested in seeing them during private family events and showed no desire to include them in the activities surrounding the coronation.
King Charles did not want to have Archie and Lilibet on the Buckingham Balcony for a family photo.
The Daily Beast revealed: “..that the Sussex children were not invited to attend even fringe family events, let alone the coronation itself. Supporters of Charles argue that to offer the Sussexes a role would have been to risk the family drama overshadowing the solemn celebration of the day.”
Royal observers believe that Markle followed Tyler Perry’s way of handling the Royal Family — ignoring them and staying as far away from them as possible.
Recently, Markle and Prince Harry confirmed that Lilibet was christened in Montecito and Perry had been chosen to be her godfather.
When Markle and Prince Harry reached out to the billionaire media mogul to ask him to play that important role in Lilibet’s life, he was quick to put down his foot by saying he was not going to London to be humiliated by the British royal family.
Appearing on the Sussexes’ Netflix series, he described the moment he got the joyous call from the calling by saying: “They were pretty serious on the phone, and I am like, ‘OK, what’s going on,’ and they said, ‘Well, we would like for you to be Lili’s godfather. I had to take a minute to take that in, and I thought I’d be honored, absolutely be honored.”
He continued by revealing his bold request: “I got off the phone and took it all in, and then I called them back and said, ‘Hold on a second, does that mean we have to go over there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all of that out? Because I don’t want to do that. Maybe we can do a private ceremony here and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then that’s OK.”
Sources close to Markle said she has no plans to travel to London with her children unless it is for an earth-shattering reason.
