The reigning monarch of England is King Charles III, but even he sometimes needs the help of close family members and advisors to make some of his toughest and most painful decisions.
According to the fiery pages of the new book Endgame, King Charles turned to a close relative when he was forced to go through one of the most brutal and life-changing actions against Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and his young grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Before evicting the Sussex family from their beloved Frogmore Cottage, King Charles had a sit-down, not with Prince William, but with his sister, Anne, Princess Royal.
The author revealed that Princess Anne made it clear to King Charles that it was time for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be booted from their English home and cut their main tie to his British roots.
The writer shared: “Princess Anne persuaded Charles to withdraw the use of the residence by the couple, who were no longer working royals. Scobie wrote that Princess Royal was at the forefront of the supporters of the firm approach to evict them, while Prince Edward, on the other hand, was uneasy about the Palace’s decision. In the end, Harry and Meghan were sent a letter from Sir Michael John Stevens, the Keeper of the Privy Purse, urging them to hand back the keys to the cottage, which was a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II and had recently undergone a $3 million renovation.”
When Prince Harry discovered that he was kicked out of the home and therefore lost his only British home, he yelled at his father: “Do you want to see your grandchildren?”
Author Omid Scobie added: “Staying mum about Harry’s accusations and remaining publicly unconcerned for his son’s well-being while ending his family’s lease on a safe U.K. residence was not a decisive action by a resolute King; it was a cheap shot from a wounded father bound by an institutional system that is often intolerant of human emotion.”
The revelation was rather shocking and baffling to some royal watchers because Prince Harry appeared to have a great rapport with his aunt.
The connection and what seemed to be an authentic relationship between Prince Harry and Princess Anne were visible during King Charles’s coronation.
The pair were seen chatting and sharing jokes, and at some point, Princess Anne tried to offer Prince Harry a better seat.
What Prince Harry was not aware of at the time was that just weeks before, Princess Anne had turned on him and demanded that she be booted from the home.
