Melania Trump has discovered that with a husband like Donald Trump, she does not need enemies because he is doing a mighty job of bringing her down with a nudge.
The former first lady rarely makes public appearances. It is a well-known fact that Melania Trump spent almost the entirety of 2023 hidden at her Mar-a-Lago apartment or in her parents’ mansion in Florida.
She was seen on a handful of occasions throughout the year. Donald Trump’s wife attended a funeral and was pictured during an outing in New York with her son, Barron Trump.
In early December, the former glamour model, who was born in Slovenia, decided to deliver a paid speech during a naturalization ceremony.
The event was put together by the National Archive — the same agency that has pushed Donald Trump one step closer to a prison cell by demanding that Special Counsel Jack Smith open an investigation into his mishandling of government records, including classified documents.
During the ceremony, Melania Trump pulled the emotional and passionate immigrant card by sharing her journey as a young Slovenian model who dreamed of big opportunities and a bright future and came to America to make it all happen.
The businesswoman claimed: “My personal experience of traversing the challenges of the immigration process opened my eyes to the harsh realities people face, including you, who try to become US citizens. The pathway to citizenship is arduous. My life turned into a labyrinth of organizing paperwork.”
Many were quick to slam Melania Trump for her words. Mrs. Trump’s former friend and staff member, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff was baffled by the hypocritical speech.
During an appearance, she was asked when Melania Trump ever cared about immigrants. When did Melania Trump ever stand up to her husband’s treatment of foreigners seeking a better life?
She stated: “Unfortunately, I find it to be really deceptive, almost deceitful, and quite honestly, I find Melania Trump’s words to be lacking in any real meaning. And it’s unfortunate because she had an opportunity as the first lady of the United States to make a difference, and she didn’t at all.”
Winston Wolkoff continued: “Melania Trump had, you know, as the second first lady of the United States of America to ever be an immigrant, she had the opportunity to make such a difference in the lives of so many. I mean, it was the American dream, and to squander that opportunity, to show up today, to try and make a difference in something that her husband is so against, which is immigration, as we all know, really is meaningless.”
She went on to point out Melania Trump’s lack of action and empathy toward immigrants when her husband was in The White House.
She stated: “So I go back to the, you know, strong philosophy that you know, intent on doing the right thing matters in America and that your attention, and how much you’re receiving from others, is not what matters most. And for her, that is why she is there today. It is the attention she receives, it is what gives Donald the ability to bring more people to the forefront of what he is discussing about immigration, and for her to really talk about and be there under the guise that she cares about America and democracy is untruthful.”
Winston Wolkoff concluded by claiming that Melania Trump was trying to get some camera time and added: “Unfortunately, people keep giving her this out, this reason to believe that Melania should be freed from Donald, but Melania is complicit. Melania is, you know, side by side with the showmanship and she is exactly like Donald, just, unfortunately, in a skirt and high heels, and showing up today was just another way for her to have some camera time.”
Hours after Melania Trump delivered her pro-immigrant remarks, Donald Trump was quick to take her down a pinch and erase the little camera time she had.
At a rally in New Hampshire, the billionaire real estate mogul said: “Immigrants entering the U.S. are poisoning the blood of our country.”
Donald Trump doubled down on his remarks at a campaign event in Waterloo, Iowa, by saying: “They dump them on the border, and they pour into our country, and nobody said to check them. They’re destroying the blood of our country. That’s what they’re doing. They’re destroying our country.”
Melania Trump was wiped off the headlines, and Donald Trump’s unforgettable words and connection to Adolf Hitler instead dominated the news cycle.
