Kate Middleton and her husband are going through a trying year, but the business of the monarchy must continue. Princess Kate announced that she is battling cancer via preventative chemotherapy.
The news came just weeks after Middleton underwent a serious surgery, which was to remove a non-cancerous tumor. Prince William has been carrying the burden of the monarchy’s power on his shoulders, for King Charles III is also ill.
This week, to the British people’s amazement, Prince William and Princess Catherine announced that they have decided that almost two years after being bestowed the great honor of being The Prince and Princess of Wales, they are ready to acquire more profound knowledge of the Welsh language and culture.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Prince William are hiring a new assistant, a private secretary for Wales and the UK.
Royal sources told GB News that the pair have begun to learn Welsh since King Charles honored them with the titles and are now working on deepening the trust and respect of the people of Wales over time. This effort makes the people of Wales feel respected and valued.
An insider explained that while the prince and princess have had a complicated few months, they are “driving forward with their plans.”
One of their most extensive plans is to support the Welsh language and culture in their way.
Kate Middleton and Prince William have been criticized for not learning the language as soon as they became The Prince and Princess of Wales after King Charles took the throne in 2022.
According to the source, they did not rush their decision because they wanted to “avoid following the customs of older generations of the Royal Family.”
According to the job description, the person applying must be able to speak and write Welsh. The description went on to say: “You will have a proactive, hands-on approach while operating in a small and agile team and a strong understanding of Welsh communities, affairs, government, and business. Conversational Welsh is essential, and fluent Welsh, both written and spoken, is desirable.”
It continued: “Most of The Prince and Princess’ public engagements in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will be planned and delivered by the new aide, who will also be expected to build and manage relationships with different communities across the country on behalf of William and Catherine.”
Welsh, which is more than 4000 years old, is spoken by a quarter of the 3.136 million people of the country. King Charles learned Welsh during his investiture ceremony when he formally became Prince of Wales in 1969.
While fluent in French, Queen Camilla did not learn the language despite her many travels to the country for charity events and royal engagements.
Queen Camilla could have decided not to learn Welsh because it is considered “a famously tricky language to learn and master,” according to Page Six, or because she did not receive the title.
