Yael Shelbia, a young model, who topped the list of the “most beautiful faces” last year, has said she had been bullied for her looks.
Yael Shelbia, a 19-year-old model from Israel, ranked number one in the “100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year” competition in 2020, later saying that she was not even aware she was a contestant.
And since being crowned with the title, she has spoken about how not all of the messages she receives are pleasant.
While Yael Shelbia has many fans, she has already received unkind messages, which she said contained the “normal things haters say,” which are not worth her attention.
She confessed: “I’ve received a large amount of support and love, also suitor messages I must admit and messages that weren’t the nicest. They said the normal things that haters say, nothing worth any attention.”
She described winning the top spot as “exciting and flattering” but insisted “all women are beautiful.” She shared inspiring words with her fans, saying that beauty comes from kindness, humility, and positivity, not just looks.
Yael Shelbia stated: “I think what makes a person beautiful is to be kind, humble, and most of all – positive. When you are good, it is really shown in your eyes, and eyes never lie.”
Shelbia — who began modeling when she was 16 after a photographer contacted her on Instagram — also believes good people can be recognized by kindness in their eyes, as the “eyes never lie.”
Despite the recent hate mail, Shelbia says her 36-year-old billionaire boyfriend is “happy” for her. She is currently dating Brandon Korff, whose late grandfather is Sumner Redstone — an American billionaire known for corporations such as CBS.
Shelbia has been involved with big names like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, having modeled for their beauty companies KKW Beauty and Kylie Skin. She also worked alongside Lionel Messi on a mobile campaign.
The young model follows in the footsteps of Thylane Blondeau, who made TC Chambers’ “100 Most Beautiful Faces” competition famous when she won at just age 6 in 2007.
After winning again at age 17, she went on to model for luxury brands like Versace and Dolce and Gabbana. With over one million followers on Instagram alone, many expect her brand to benefit quite a bit from the recent attention.
Moreover, if she plays her cards right, observers say that she could make a name for herself in the fashion industry.
