Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, seems to have found her place in the royal family, and since the pandemic hit England, she has become the backbone of the clan.
The mother of three has been praised by royal fans and Queen Elizabeth II for the outstanding job she has been doing.
Kate Middleton appears to thrive as a member of the high-profile family who takes joy in her official royal engagements.
However, in an email to her close friends, Prince William‘s wife revealed the one thing she did not like when she became part of the royal family.
When it was confirmed that the Duke of Cambridge was in a serious relationship with Kate, royal backers immediately fell in love with her.
Prince William’s lady love, whose full name is Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, was rapidly given the nickname Kate.
She did not like being called Kate, and in 2008, she wrote an email to all close pals where she requested that they stick to Catherine.
Columnist Adam Helliker, who allegedly spoke to one of the pals who received the surprising email at the time, revealed to the Sunday Express: “With Prince William’s engagement now a surefire certainty (even Ladbrokes has stopped taking bets on whether it will happen after a flurry of well-placed wagers), there are intriguing signs that Kate Middleton is preparing for her future role. It looks like she’s taking it very seriously indeed too. I hear that in the past few weeks, the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal ‘Kate’ and in future wishes to be known by her full name: ‘Catherine.'”
Royal expert Daniela Elser explained that Kate’s friends were “a little taken aback” by the message, but they still found it was lighthearted.
Elser shared: “Everyone knows it’s about to happen with Kate and William, but we were a little surprised about the request to call her Catherine. There is a distinct feeling she has started to become very aware of her position.”
Kate went on to marry William, and they now share three children. It is not known if she still dislikes the nickname given to her or if she has embraced it.
It is worth noting that Kate has penned heartfelt letters to children, adults, and organizations throughout the years, and she always uses the name, Catherine.
