Amber Guyger, who some people call Amy Gyger, is a white female Dallas police officer. Authorities have yet to link her officially to the shooting death of a black man of Caribbean descent in Texas, but multiple sources have confirmed her identity.
She had reportedly worked a 12-hour shift before fatally shooting Botham Shem Jean twice in the chest after he opened the door of his own apartment.
The police officer was initially going to be charged with manslaughter for the shocking incident, but the Texas Rangers have asked for more time to investigate the case.
According to the authorities, they are also awaiting blood test results to know if Guyger was intoxicated or high on drugs at the time of the fatal shooting.
A statement from the Dallas PD shared the following information about the case that is making headlines and has sparked a lot of interest online: “We have ceased handling it under our normal officer-involved shooting protocol; a blood sample was drawn to test for drugs and alcohol. And we are in the process of obtaining a warrant, and we have also invited the Texas Rangers to conduct an independent investigation.”
According to several legitimate sources, Officer Guyger and Jean did not know each other.

People in the area initially said that they were allegedly dating and Guyger had been spotted entering his apartment in the past. A photo that circulated on social media was used by some to push this theory.
However, this information was never corroborated by authorities although officials said that they were looking into it.
A few witnesses claimed that Guyger looked drunk after the shooting. She was also reportedly heard screaming and cursing at Jean for him to open the door the night of the brutal killing.
A person, who has been following the head-scratching updates on the story, said this: “Manslaughter is BS for #BothamJean. Where are the accompanying charges? How did she get into his apartment? Illegally discharging a weapon?? Why no immediate arrest? How did the officer get home? Immediate drug and alcohol testing ?? Lots of issues here.”
Another commenter asked about the dating rumors that surfaced online via the neighbors: “Is it true they dated? I’m hearing people saying she was yelling at the door in a drunken state requesting that he opened up? Saw a picture where they showed him and her with other females in a group hug. WTH is there gonna be true to all this crazy news.”
Guyger has been with the Southeast Crime Response Team (CRT) for more than four years, and in 2017, she shot Uvaldo Perez, who took her weapon and was carrying meth and marijuana at the time of the incident.
