An insider told The Sun: “The Queen summoned the Duke to Buckingham Palace to tell him her decision. It was a devastating moment for both of them. His reputation is in tatters. It is unlikely he will ever perform royal duties again. He is disgraced.”
The person continued with: “This is not about personalities but about safeguarding the future of the institution of the monarchy itself. There could be only one conclusion… The Duke of York had to withdraw from the fray and from public life. It is very sad. Obviously, both the Queen and the prince love Andrew … but the health of the monarchy is too important to risk.”
Another insider told the Times of London: “William is becoming more and more involved in decisions about the institution [monarchy] and he’s not a huge fan of his uncle Andrew.”
More specifically, Prince William was right in the middle of the whole ordeal and had a direct hand in ousting his family member.
Why exactly, it remains unknown. However, it would not be the first time observers have seen issues in the Royal Family that has caused a significant rift between its members, and it is entirely possible that supporters are seeing the fallout of another internal scandal that they did not know about until now.
Reports indicate that Prince William has been getting more and more directly involved in the internal decision-making process of the family, which might point to some shifts in the power structure of the monarchy.
At the same time, Prince Andrew has been surrounded by more and more negative rumors, which have undermined his position not just on the global stage, but also reportedly within his own family.
