Angelina Jolie recently did an interview where she made a rather sad confession after her failed decade-long romance with Brad Pitt.
The famous actress and humanitarian is currently making the promotional rounds to talk about her new Disney movie, The One and Only Ivan.
Jolie lit up as all proud mothers do when talking about how her daughter made the movie possible. The humanitarian explained that after Shiloh Jolie-Pitt read the book written by K. A. Applegate, she fell in love with it, and they had a conversation about turning it into a movie.
Talking to Extra, Jolie revealed: “Well, Shiloh read the book and loved the book, and we started reading it together and talked about Ivan and why Ivan was so special. And I think Ivan speaks to a lot of people because there’s this idea of who Ivan is.”
She continued: “At heart, the real Ivan was a painter. He had this artistic side; he had this other-self. I think a lot of people can also relate to that, where there are expectations on them to be what people assume they are, and they don’t often have the friends or the freedom to be able to express who they really are and be fully that person.”
Later on in the interview, Jolie decided to get more personal, where she explained that she would not pretend to be what she is not to be accepted.
She revealed: “I won’t follow suit and pretend to be anyone but myself in my own life because it’s all I have known how to be. “
Jolie went on to make the sad confession that no one knows her except her children. She shared: “If you ask do I think people really know me and who I really am, probably only my children could explain who I am.”
Many of her loving fans found it a bit heartbreaking that after being in an intense relationship with Pitt for more than ten years, and raising six children — Maddox, 19, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11 — the actor barely knew the real Jolie.
Jolie concluded her virtual chitchat by talking about the struggles she faces as a parent dealing with homeschooling her six children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jolie explained: “[Maddox] had to stay back from Korea. He’s going online, and so I think he starts at 6:00 pm at night. They’re all together, and it’s a nice big bunch, so everybody’s helping each other out. We’re lucky.”
Jolie shines in her biggest role, mother.
