According to a new bombshell book, the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was somewhat controversial from the start.
And while the public was only recently made aware of the state of affairs, it seems like things were brewing behind the scenes for quite a while before the marriage was even made official.
According to Robert Lacey‘s book, Battle of Brothers, there was already tension in the family because of the marriage proposal, particularly between Prince William and Prince Harry.
Accusations have come out claiming that William had tried to intervene in Harry’s relationship, attempting to recruit Earl Spencer to step in and make Harry reconsider. Prince William feared that his brother was moving too fast with the former American actress.
Lacey wrote: “William turned to his uncle Charles Spencer for help. From time to time, Diana’s younger brother had played something of an honorary godfather to both boys in the years since the death of their mother, and their uncle agreed with William to see what he could do.”
The royal historian added: “The result of the Spencer intervention was an even more bitter explosion. Once again Harry refused to slow down. He didn’t blame his uncle. He understood why Diana’s brother should want to help. Yet he was furious with his elder brother for dragging other family members into the row.”
And while that clearly did not end up happening, it still managed to smear the relationship of the two members of the royal family.
It does not seem like the revelation was all too surprising to the majority of people, as some were already suspicious that something might have been going on between the two brothers.
And at this point, it definitely does seem like Harry’s decision to marry Meghan and have a family of his own has managed to throw quite the spike in the relationships of the royal family.
It is not clear if those alleged problems are continuing to this day or if things have calmed down behind the scenes.
However, there are various hints pointing at the former, especially whenever some new report comes out from behind the closed doors of the palace.
Royal fans are hopeful that things will calm down in the future. In the meantime, the power couple is busy making a lot of money in America and enjoying the estate that they have recently purchased.
The family drama seems far behind.
