Kate Middleton Was Forced To Make These Changes After Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding

Kate Middleton Meghan Markle Royal Wedding Style Changes

The arrival of Meghan Markle in the royal family set off a friendly competition that forced Kate Middleton to make some changes.

In a new interview, royal author Elizabeth Holmes explained Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, made visible efforts to become a real fashion icon to go toe-to-toe with the former Hollywood actress.

Prince Harry‘s wife has an impressive team of professional stylists, makeup artists, and hair experts who make sure to give her a perfect look for every public event, photoshoot, and magazine cover.

Meanwhile, down-to-earth Kate was courageous enough to do her own makeup for her big royal wedding. The fashion expert told Us Weekly that Kate made a conscious effort to step up her game not to be outshined by Meghan.

Holmes, who is promoting her new book, HRH So Many Thoughts on Royal Style revealed: “I think Kate kicked up her fashion game in the fall of 2018, certainly after the royal wedding of Harry and Megan. Kate had just had Louie, and she went away on maternity leave for a couple of months and came back and suddenly had a little bit more fashion in her wardrobe.”

Holmes went on to share that other reasons might have pushed Kate to up her game.

She said: “It’s impossible to say what inspired that. It could be just sort of bouncing back after having a baby or that she was working with some new fashion advisers. But I do think that Megan on the scene sort of made everything more exciting for both of them. And I love that Kate kind of stepped up her game!”

Holmes stated that Meghan and Kate did not have any other choice but to follow in the footsteps of their late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who was a fashion queen and trendsetter.

The expert stated: “I think she learned a lot about fashion because you look at [her] wedding dress, and you can place that it’s an eighties dress. It was, I think, a 20-year-old girl’s idea of what a princess should dress like.”

She concluded by: “The more she did in her royal life, I think that the more that she understood what worked for her, what worked for her body, what sort of image she wanted to project. We would have seen her something much more streamlined than her first one.”

Despite being on different continents, some royal fans believe the two ladies are still competing to be the most fashionable member of the royal family.
