Kamala Harris was not laughing during a recent interview where she was asked, who is running the country?
Appearing on what was supposed to be friendly territory — Charlamagne Tha God‘s Comedy Central show, the vice president was quizzed about Joe Biden‘s presidency and one of the wildest conspiracy theories about their administration.
Charlamagne Tha God, who strongly supported Harris during the 2020 primaries and presidential election, decided to turn on her.
The TV and radio host went for the jugular by asking a question that he knew would upset Harris and provide him with a viral hit.
He asked her, who America’s “real” president is, Joe Biden or West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin.
At first, it appeared that Harris’s spokesperson, Symone Sanders, did not want her to answer the contentious question.
She could be heard off-screen saying: “I’m sorry I interrupted, but I don’t think the vice president can hear you.”
The Breakfast Club radio show host called out Harris by adding: “She can hear me. They’re acting like she can’t hear me.”
The question awakened the former DA in Harris, and she did not hesitate to defend herself and her boss.
The California Democrat made it clear that Biden is the commander-in-chief, and she slammed the TV personality for using Republican talking points.
Many conservatives used Manchin’s name as a cover-up for what they really want to say — they think Biden is too old to be president.
They theorized that a group of far-left Democrats is secretly governing the country. Biden often lands in trouble for accidentally calling Harris president.
Some are even pushing the wild theory that former President Barack Obama is the one pulling the strings.
Oddly enough, former President Donald Trump dispelled that rumor saying that Obama is too busy playing golf to run the free world.
Vice President Harris reacted in a sharp and tough manner. She made it clear that Biden ran the White House during the fiery exchange.
She said: “C’mon, Charlamagne. It’s Joe Biden.” A visibly frustrated and disappointed Harris went on to say: “It’s Joe Biden. And don’t start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he’s president. It’s Joe Biden. And I’m vice president, and my name is Kamala Harris.”
She continued to stand up for herself and Biden by enumerating the administration’s accomplishments since the January inauguration: “The reality is because we are in office, we do the things like the child tax credit, which is going to reduce Black child poverty by 50 percent. So I hear the frustration, but let’s not deny the impact that we’ve had.”
As the conversation progressed, Charlamagne, known for being a provocateur, praised Harris for her temperament and her forceful arguments.
He said: “That Kamala Harris, that’s the one I like. That’s the one that was putting the pressure on people in Senate hearings. That’s the one I’d like to see more often out here in these streets.”
Charlamagne Tha God eventually joined Harris and ripped Manchin to shreds for “ruining this country” and “blocking progress.”
Harris shared her feelings about the lawmaker by saying: “The stuff [Manchin’s] holding up progress on are hurting people and hurting Black people in particular.”
Harris also revealed during the sit-down that she is “crucified for every little thing in the media.”
Manchin might not be president, but he certainly holds a lot of power.
On Sunday, he delivered a hard blow to Biden’s $2 trillion Build Back Better plan by saying that he has concerns and cannot commit to voting for it.
Appearing on Fox News, Manchin told Bret Baier: “I’ve always said this, Bret, if I can’t go home and explain to the people of West Virginia, I can’t vote for. And I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I can’t get there.”
Manchin added: “This is a no on this piece of legislation. I have tried everything I know to do.”
In a statement released after his interview, Manchin slammed Democrats for wanting to “dramatically reshape our society.”
The statement read: “I cannot take that risk with a staggering debt of more than $29 trillion and inflation taxes that are real and harmful to every hard-working American at the gasoline pumps, grocery stores, and utility bills with no end in sight.”
Some observers predict a smaller legislation package might pass Congress via the reconciliation process in January.
