Plans are underway for the coronation of Prince Charles, and some decisions taken by the future king will certainly ruffle feathers on the other side of the Atlantic.
According to reliable royal sources, while the British people might not be aware of it, it seems that two significant events are currently being planned in the walls of the Palace.
Queen Elizabeth II is getting ready to celebrate the historical achievement of having 70 years on the British throne or her Platinum Jubilee.
Insiders from within the royal family revealed to the Daily Mail that a committee using the codename Operation Golden Orb has been meeting once a month to go over the millions of complicated and important details surrounding King Charles’s coronation.
The event will occur at Westminster Abbey one year after Prince Charles ascends the throne.
It has also been confirmed that Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, will be crowned King and Queen side by side during a scaled-back coronation ceremony.
Queen Elizabeth issued a surprising and controversial statement earlier this month confirming that she wants Bowles to be gifted the title of Queen when the time comes.
Prince Charles, who had always spoken about his plans to drastically slim down the Monarchy when he becomes head of state, was not joking when he said that there are so many family members standing on Buckingham Palace balcony it will collapse.
The Prince of Wales has decided that Prince Harry, his wife, Meghan Markle, and their young children — Archie and Lilibet Diana — will not be invited to appear on the Palace’s balcony and be part of the iconic and historical moment.
One source told the British publication that the Prince of Wales, who is eyeing a leaner and more modern monarchy, will only have Prince William, his wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children on the balcony.
The person familiar with the plans told the Mail on Sunday: “It will be a slimmed-down Monarchy on display throughout. I wouldn’t be surprised to see just Charles and Camilla, Kate and William, and their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony afterward.”
Prince Charles is excluding Markle and Prince Harry because he is determined to take the opposite route to Queen Elizabeth’s grandiose and expensive coronation in 1953.
King Charles will have about 2,000 people at his coronation compared to Queen Elizabeth who had a guest list of 8,000 dignitaries for her service, and more than 40,000 troops marched in a parade in her honor.
The source explained: “It will be less expensive and more representative of different community groups and faiths.”
Prince Charles decided to have a shorter and cheaper ceremony because he wants to set the tone for his reign.
Many see the decision not to have Prince Harry and his family as a childish royal snub and even disrespectful.
Royal pundits ask, how can Prince Charles not have his two children by his side during such a critical moment in his life?
This decision might make Prince Harry and his wife feel unwelcome or unwanted in the Palace, knowing that they have already revealed that they are having trouble getting the proper security they need to travel to the UK.
Others are questioning if Prince Charles is not punishing his youngest son and his spouse for the bombshell interviews where he humiliated him by saying that he caused him “genetic pain” and cut him off financially after he exited his royal duties in 2020.
Prince Charles and his wife might be putting their feet down and taking revenge over the reports that Prince Harry’s highly anticipated memoir will take aim at Bowles.
When asked about Prince Harry and Markle being left out, a spokesperson for Clarence House declined to deny or confirm anything.
The rep said: “The detailed planning for a Coronation begins at the point of accession. So there are no plans of this nature at this stage.”
However, a source told the Mail: “There are binders and binders of paperwork on the accession and coronation all stacked up, and each has various appendixes. It’s very complex. The Golden Orb committee used to meet twice a year, but now they’re meeting much more frequently, sometimes once a month. Compared to the last coronation, there will be a lot less fuss.”
A friend of Prince Harry has revealed that his tell-all book that will rattle the Monarchy will be out in late 2022.
