King Charles III is said to be sad that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not making any concrete effort to make peace with the Royal Family.
The new Monarch seems to believe that since The Duke and Duchess of Sussex started the feud, they need to find ways to end it gracefully.
However, the Sussexes feel that they are the real victims in this saga, so the apology should come from the British monarchy.
However, with the weight of tradition and his status on his shoulders, King Charles would never agree to such a thing. This means that the two sides will continue to stay in their corner.
The renegade royals have always stated that the monarchy did not take their safety issues seriously enough. According to their interviews, this lack of attention played a part in the deterioration of Markle’s mental state.
Moreover, even after they left, King Charles reportedly wanted no part in making sure that they were well taken care of in that area.
Some in the Palace thought that the response to the threats were appropriate and that the Sussexes were wrong for blaming the Royal Family.
However, former counter-terror chief Neil Basu said that Prince Harry and the former actress were right all along and the threats were real.
Mr. Basu stated in an interview with C4: “Absolutely, and if you’d seen the stuff that was written and you were receiving it… the kind of rhetoric that’s online if you don’t know what I know, you would feel under threat all of the time.”
King Charles never saw this danger and instead tried to bring the couple back into the fold using other means. His priority was for them to give up on the Netflix deal.
Royal expert Phil Dampier told The Sun: “Charles has already offered an olive branch to Harry by mentioning him in his first-ever address to the nation when he became King. I’m sure he’s also offered olive branches privately, and I’m sure he’s been invited to Sandringham for the festive season. He’s clearly not going to come home for Christmas, and I’m sure Charles will be very upset by that and the fact that his olive branches have been rejected. It would have been extremely difficult for Harry to rip up his Netflix contract and lose millions of dollars, but that’s what he should have done to mend the relationship with his dad.”
It is clear that the Sussexes are fighting different realities. King Charles is focused on the Netflix deal that could affect the monarchy.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want the King to understand their unique position in the monarchy. The two priorities do not align.
