A police officer named Celeste Ayala is being called a hero after a picture was shared on social media where she was breastfeeding a hungry and dirty baby boy while on duty.
Ayala, an officer in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and several colleagues, were handling police matters at the Sor Maria Ludovica children’s hospital when the young child was brought in crying and screaming. Ayala also cuddled the baby, so he could stop crying.
Marcos Heredia, who is a friend and colleague of Ayala, shared the photo where the baby is getting the much-needed milk to help him recuperate.
Heredia praised the caring woman and revealed that the doctors said the baby was dirty, but she was not concerned and proceeded to feed him after getting their authorization.
The caption of the viral picture read: “I want to make public this great gesture of love you made today for this baby who you did not know, but for whom you did not hesitate to act like a real mother. You did not care if he was dirty, that is what the hospital staff said about him. Good job mate.”
Ayala told local media: “I noticed that he was hungry, as he was putting his hand into his mouth, so I asked to hug him and breastfeed him.”
According to reports, the baby is the youngest of six children, and the mother is in a dire financial situation making it difficult to care for them.
Ayala is one extraordinary woman because along with being a mother, police officer, and savior of a baby, she is a volunteer at a local fire brigade.
The brigade issued a rousing statement that read: “We want to congratulate the voluntary firefighting cadet Celeste Ayala who yesterday in her job as a police officer while she was on guard duty at the hospital, breastfed a young child who arrived crying.”
It went on to state: “Actions like these fill us with pride and obligate us to redouble the effort, the work and the solidarity with our community.”
Many commenters have said that she has given them more faith in humanity.
