Melania Trump is fully aware that in politics and the media, many pens are used to write a story.
She knew of the narrative that would be pinned on her decision to marry one of the most controversial figures in America and later the world — Donald Trump.
However, when Donald Trump entered the complex and dog-eat-dog world of politics, she lost complete control of the story she wanted the people to know.
The former first lady became the “glamour model,” the “gold digger,” the “mail-order bride”, the “immigrant who is anti-immigrant,” the “woman who hates Christmas,” and “the woman who refuses to believe any of Donald Trump’s accusers.”
She was also the “cold fashionista who wore a jacket that said I don’t care, do you to children in cages” and “the wife who is as bad as her husband.”
This week, Melania Trump joined the three other living former first ladies — Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Laura Bush — as well as Jill Biden, the current first lady, at the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta for Rosalynn Carter‘s memorial service.
Melania Trump’s rare public appearance led to major debates and conversations. On CNN, Jake Tapper and his guests spoke about the legacies of the first ladies.
While it is clear that Michelle Obama made a major push for American children to eat better, it is not very clear what Melania Trump stood for.
The host asked Kristen Holmes, CNN National Correspondent, to share more insights about what Mrs. Trump is passionate about.
He asked: “And Kristen, we have so many legacies of so many first ladies. I could go through each first lady and what they stood for Michelle Obama, for example, had her fitness and eating right. What does Melania Trump, she had her Be Best program, but what does she want to be known for?”
Holmes quickly gave the one answer that makes sense to Americans who both love and hate Melania Trump — her reason for being is her son, Barron Trump.
She explained: “One of the things that she really wants to be known for is the online bullying that was part of the Be Best initiative. And she actually said in a recent interview with Fox Digital that she would do that again if she were to go back to the White House. She would expand on that by protecting children.”
She zoomed in on the one role that Melania Trump has given a stellar performance in – motherhood.
The Washington Post recently did a penetrating piece on Melania Trump and the writer could not help but paint the portrait of a loving, caring, and dedicated mother.
The author shared: “One thing that has been very clear to me is that she loves her son, Barron. That is something that we hear from all of the people around her, and that’s something she wants to be known for.”
The writer added: “One of the things that she really wants to be known for is the online bullying, which was part of the Be Best initiative. By all accounts, Melania is a good mother to her son, Barron, and the fact that he is finishing up high school in the Palm Beach area is the major reason she’s spent so much time at Mar-a-Lago.”
Melania Trump has worked diligently for the past 17 years for her only son to be shielded from the scandals and for him to know this much is true: he is her legacy.
