Before opening the significant chapter with Netflix, Meghan Markle ended one with Spotify in a bold fashion.
This week, Prince Harry‘s wife aired the finale episode of her popular podcast Archetypes — she initially launched the program to “dissect, explore and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”
The former American actress closed the show with a bang — she opted for a sharp and poignant message to those who did not believe in her, those who wanted her to be silent, or those who denied her help when she needed it.
The Duchess of Sussex picked a quote from Greek poet Dinos Christianopoulos that focused on naysayers attempting to clip people’s wings only to find out how tough and resilient they are.
Markle confessed that the podcast made her feel powerful. Markle also said she was finally heard and seen and added: “I feel seen. I had never considered that in using my voice, that I would feel seen, but I do. Many moons ago, I heard a quote that I will share with you today because as we talk about labels, tropes, and boxes that some may try to squeeze you into and roles and stereotypes that are attributed to you that don’t quite fit the full person that you are, this [quote] is what I wanted to leave you with.”
She concluded by saying: “To that point, my friend, keep growing, and I’ll see you on the flip side. As ever, I’m Meghan.”
In her controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, Markle sitting next to Prince Harry by her side, revealed that she could not use her voice while living with the Royal Family. She could not thrive and felt she had to make herself small.
However, since leaving London, she was able to break all the barriers and rules set by King Charles III and The Firm.
After finding her own voice, Markle used it during the podcast to let other women know that they should not be held back because of their gender and that their dreams and goals are valid in this society.
She explained that she and others should not view words such as ambitious, driven, and bossy as dirty words.
She boldly declared: “As a woman, you come to terms with the fact that not everyone’s going to like you. The goal can’t be for everyone to like you. But the goal can be for them to respect you.”
Markle was paid $18 million by Spotify for 12 episodes to tackle the boxes, the stereotypes, and the shackles that bind women.
It is not yet known if the podcast will return. Markle’s talents as an orator and her limitless ambition led her to a massive deal with Netflix.
The pair will be heard loud and clear in their upcoming Netflix series Harry & Meghan on December 8.
