Markle and Prince Harry’s lives became one of the biggest topics after they announced their decision to step down from the Royal Family.
While living in California, the media’s scrutiny continued with their every move and decision. The duo tried to be reclusive, mainly staying in their Montecito home.
However, every once in a while they commanded the media’s attention with their projects, including a Netflix series, interviews, and the book Spare that rattled King Charles III, Prince William, Queen Camilla, and the monarchy.
However, a source close to Prince Harry told Page Six that he has reached an impasse in the past few months.
There is an internal struggle — Prince Harry has always been clear that he is ready to shun the spotlight and go away to Africa, but Meghan Markle loves being famous.
The insider with knowledge from their time with Spotify tells Page Six: “Harry has made it clear that he never wanted to be in the media…he would be very happy to go away. I think he’d like to go and live in Botswana – as long as he had money. Meghan actually likes being famous.”
The insider added: “The thing about Harry is that he’s super, super down to earth, just not this specific earth! When he talks about getting the Pope for a podcast, he truly thinks he can do this, he gets very excited.”
The situation gets complicated now that Archie and Lilibet are in the picture. Prince Harry is very concerned about the way the media will treat his two children as they grow up. He wants to avoid what he and Prince William went through at all costs.
Another person familiar with the situation claimed: “While Harry understands that he’s a public figure and that it would be delusional to expect a life out of the spotlight, it is Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2, he is concerned about. ”
The source concluded: “If he’s seen out getting dinner he doesn’t have a problem with it, but what he struggles with is protecting his children and their innocence, so much of what he felt was really challenging in his own life.”
Prince Harry has decided to remove himself from California with a recent trip to Asia and is flying to Africa soon for a documentary.
Markle has some projects in the works in California.
