Mom Leaves Child Alone In Car For Hours To Go Drink At A Bar, She Risks Five Years In Prison

Veronica Elliott Florida Mom Bar

Veronica Elliott, from Florida, is in a lot of trouble after her latest actions.

According to the DeLand Police Department, the woman was arrested on Sunday after leaving her seven-year-old daughter in a car to get drunk at a local bar.

It is believed that the little girl stayed alone for 4 hours or more before wandering into the establishment and searching for the adult who is supposed to care for her.

The authorities were called to The Perfect Spot Bar on Flightline Boulevard in DeLand by patrons or employees who were alarmed by the child’s dire situation.

According to the cops, Veronica Elliott spent the early hours of Sunday drinking. Elliot arrived at the bar before 2:58 a.m., and the police arrested her around 6:30 a.m.

It appears that she spent her time at the bar alone. According to the press release, Veronica Elliott had multiple alcoholic beverages that made her forget she had a child sitting in a vehicle unsupervised and unprotected.

The little one was left in an unlocked car that was turned off. The car was parked in a dark area, not far from the bar.

The girl, scared and eventually losing hope that her mother would come back, reportedly walked into the bar and asked for help.

When the police arrived on the scene, the Florida mom was dazed and confused. Veronica Elliott had lost her shoes, was covered in dirt, and had difficulty speaking.

The intoxicated woman, who no longer had a grasp on reality, walked to the police officers and asked for the time.

Elliott told the police that she initially planned to spend 10 minutes in the bar and had no idea that hours went by.

The police officer leading the investigation said: “The woman was barefoot and covered in dirt as she swayed back and forth. Her slurred speech patterns and body movements were consistent with someone who was under the influence.”

It seems that the woman was arrested without incident and thrown into jail. The Department of Children and Families was called to the bar and took custody of the child.

As of Wednesday, Elliott had been released from jail after posting a $2,500 bond. It is not known if she has been able to regain custody of her daughter. Veronica Elliott has opted not to speak to the media about the incident.

She could face up to five years in prison.
