It seems that King Charles III has more on his golden royal plate with each passing day. At the age of 75, he is a new monarch who is set to be hospitalized for planned surgery.
He is dealing with the multiple past scandals created by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that have hurt him and the British monarchy.
While on a hospital bed, His Majesty has to prepare for the possibility that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will release more chaos his way.
According to a new biography of King Charles by Robert Hardman, Palace aides are seriously worried about the Sussexes’ public disclosures in the upcoming months.
The author shared: “For the Palace, the most worrying aspect of the book was the omission of large chunks of more recent events. It did not go unnoticed that Harry and Meghan’s wedding, their married life, and their eventual departure from the royal world amounted to a small part – less than a fifth—of Prince Harry’s memoir. This suggested either a sequel or, perhaps, a memoir by Meghan in due course.”
However, the month of January brought a new and heavy headache for King Charles — abdication.
His Majesty is forced to think seriously about the possibility of doing the unthinkable — abdicating the British throne to Prince William and, subsequently, to Kate Middleton — and it could all be because of a rumored cheating scandal.
The Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II, stepped down from the throne to save the monarchy and her son’s marriage.
Many royal watchers believe that after loud chatter that Prince Freserik was having an affair, the Queen swooped in to protect the monarchy.
However, the Queen claimed it was due to health concerns. She made her son Crown Prince Frederik and daughter-in-law Crown Princess Mary on January 14.
The events that took place in Denmark sent shock waves to England, and now many royal experts and historians are saying that with King Charles’s age and health issues, he should seriously ponder the idea of retiring.
The Daily Mail notes: “King Charles could choose to abdicate in the next five to ten years and hand the throne to William and Kate while they are still young because Queen Margrethe’s decision has gone down so well in Denmark. Commentators believe that Margrethe ‘deliberately’ dropped her massive bombshell’ at the right time to secure the future of the Danish Royal Family, and its ‘greatest asset’, Crown Princess Mary, amid rumors that Crown Prince Frederik may have had an affair.”
Royal biographer Phil Dampier, who thinks that King Charles will be influenced by events in Denmark since New Year’s Eve, explains: “It must make you wonder if, in five or ten years, King Charles might think about doing the same if his health suffers, or he just thinks it is a good time to pass on to William and Kate while they are still young. Our late Queen would never abdicate because of what happened in 1936 when her uncle abdicated and her father came to the throne. But times change.”
He added, “William and Kate get along very well with Frederik and Mary and will be among the first to congratulate them. They will be fascinated to see how they get on as King and Queen, and it will make them think about their future as well.”
The Mail claims that Prince William and Kate Middleton are carefully monitoring what has taken place in Denmark.
The media outlet adds: “William and Kate will be studying Queen Margrethe of Denmark’s abdication, with the future King noting how the transfer to Frederik X involves little other than the signing of papers, the changing of royal standards, and a proclamation. For William, keen to downsize his own coronation, the relative simplicity may be appealing.”
Observers say that The Sovereign would only resign as a last recourse.
