It seems that Donald Trump is butting heads with his wife and former model, Melania Trump, over a very important matter.
The former president is embroiled in multiple lawsuits, including one that was filed by E. Jean Carroll. Carroll said that she was sexually assaulted by Trump in late 1995 or early 1996 in the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City.
In late January, Donald Trump received a massive slap after he lost the lawsuit, and the judge ordered him to pay the large sum of $83 million in defamation charges.
Previously, Carroll was awarded $5 million in damages after a jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse. The two trials lasted several weeks, and while Mr. Trump was happily sashaying in and out of the courtroom, Melania Trump was never present during the trial.
Now the world is discovering the reason why. It is believed that Melania Trump does not agree with the way that her husband is handling her situation.
A political commentator and Trump’s former staff member claimed that the businesswoman wanted Donald Trump to step out, forcefully fight the court case, and continue to shame Carroll.
She believes that her spouse has a weak attitude in the manner in which he is handling the case. Former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham appeared on MSNBC and was asked if Melania Trump is the former president’s “target audience in all of this, as he constantly attacks Carroll, who claimed he sexually abused her back in the day.”
She responded by saying that Melania Trump has put her husband in an unwinnable situation by demanding that he fight.
She stated: “I think so. It’s my understanding that she has been really pressuring him to go out there and defend himself in this particular case. So I absolutely think that he’s probably trying to defend himself with her.”
The couple will continue to butt heads on this topic, because Trump wants to do a delicate dance where he uses Carroll’s court case for fundraising and other political benefits.
Additionally, every time Trump opens his mouth and says something negative about Carroll, she sues him and wins millions. Grisham added: “But he’s running for president, so he’s wanting to make sure that he’s using this to his advantage, […] fundraising off of it and whining about how the system is so stacked against him.”
Grisham also revealed that Donald Trump had this to say when Carroll’s accusation of rape emerged: “All you do is deny in these situations, Stephanie, you just deny everything all the time, right? I remember specifically feeling like that was a test for me because he stared me down when he asked me that.”
The different cases are not hurting Trump’s standing in the polls.
