Jimmy Carter, with dignity and class, has made history in this presidential election — he cast his vote in Georgia at the remarkable age of 100.
It was also a defiant act against Donald Trump, who insulted him on his milestone birthday. Carter divided many because of his policies when he was president, but has been able to unanimously claim Americans’ hearts for being a respectful, decent, classy, and generous human being.
For 40 years, Jimmy Carter and his late wife, former first lady Rosalynn Carter, via Habitat for Humanity, have helped build thousands of homes in 14 countries.
However, former President Donald Trump, who is determined to say and do anything to score political points against the Democrats, revealed he does not have a positive view of Jimmy Carter.
On the day that Carter marked his extraordinary centennial birthday, the billionaire real estate mogul decided to pay tribute in a vile and Trumpesque way by making derogatory remarks about Carter’s presidency and legacy.
According to PBS, during an appearance in Waunakee, Wisconsin, Trump delivered a blistering attack on President Joe Biden and took the opportunity to slam Jimmy Carter.
Trump angrily degraded Carter’s legacy in front of a roaring crowd by stating: “Biden is the worst president in U.S. history. Jimmy Carter is the happiest man because Jimmy Carter is considered a brilliant president by comparison.”
While Trump was being nasty, Carter was setting standards. The former Democratic president told his family that he was committed to performing a final act of civil duty, and he cast his vote for Kamala Harris.
Jason Carter, the former president’s grandson, told ABC News: “He is going to vote in the next couple of days. It’s going to be the next couple of days; the absentee ballots have gone out.”
A statement from the Carter Center confirmed that despite being in hospice care and facing health challenges, the former president accomplished his mission of voting using an absentee ballot, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his civic duty.
In the state of Georgia, early voting began on October 15. During a past interview with CBS News, Carter shared his thoughts on Trump’s behavior as a man and his obsession with alternative versions of the truth.
He also told the Washington Post: “I think he’s a disaster … In human rights and in treating people equally. The worst is that he is not telling the truth, and that just hurts everything.”
For their accomplishments later in life, Carter and Trump will go down in history. Carter, who served one term from 1977 to 1981, is the oldest living former president and the longest-living president in American history.
Trump, who has served one term so far, is the oldest presidential nominee in U.S. history and the second-oldest person to be sworn in as president, behind Joe Biden.
