Reba McEntire made a promise to herself and her fans many years ago regarding politics, a commitment she has chosen to honor regardless of the circumstances.
The country music legend was recently unfairly targeted on social media for posting what seems like an innocent photo. Reba McEntire took to Instagram, sharing two photos of herself with different hairstyles.
The artist told her millions of followers that she liked her hair, both long and short. Some responses were overly pessimistic, with many criticizing her for not addressing political issues.
The actress was bashed for not focusing on the changing of the guard in the White House. Many attacked her for not talking about Kamala Harris or Donald Trump.
Others told her it was time to break her vow of silence on the politics that affect this country and its residents. Some defended her by saying they are tired of seeing and hearing big-name celebrities tell them who to vote for.
One defender wrote: “How refreshing to see a celebrity talking about hair and not who I should vote for.”
Reba McEntire declined and instead continued to use her platform to promote her new sitcom Happy’s Place and the latest episodes of The Voice, where she serves as a judge.
Many years ago, the entertainer confessed she had no plans to use her voice to promote either side of the political spectrum. She is neither Republican nor Democrat; she is just Reba.
In 2021, Reba McEntire was forced to reveal that she does not meddle in political campaigns after it was revealed that she was set to perform at an event for South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem.
President-elect Donald Trump has picked Kristi Noem, famous for purposely shooting dead the family pet dog, as his next secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Reba slammed the report by saying: “Last night, an invitation to a political fundraiser with my name attached was sent out without my knowledge or permission. I had no plans to attend this event and had told the event organizers as such.”
She added that she has avoided politics and has no plans to change her mind. Reba reaffirmed her stance, stating, “Throughout my career, I have stated that I do not get involved in politics, which remains true today.”
Some will still push for her to change.
