No, it is not footage from a horror film — though many have compared it to that.
A recently-released video that has been circulating the Internet shows what appears to be a raw piece of chicken breast served on a plate crawling out of the plate in a series of twitches and spasms.
Many commenters on the video have been horrified at the scene, while others have called it fake and have refused to believe what they were seeing.
However, reports indicate that the video may indeed be genuine. Not only that, but the phenomenon depicted in it might be something that happens from time to time and is not an isolated incident.
Explanations have suggested that the breast might have still had active nerve endings producing signals.
It is also not clear where the video was taken. Clues from the table — like a set of chopsticks — suggest that it might have taken place in an Asian restaurant.
One commenter shared something interesting on the matter, suggesting that it might have been a frog after all and explained: “Man that is a frog, not a chicken. It looks like they’re at an Asian restaurant. When you put salt or soy sauce on animals that fresh, their nerves jump, causing this… Just like Koreans eat live or fresh octopus/squid, when they add the soy sauce, it does the exact same thing. I don’t believe this is chicken.”
A second person added: “Its muscle fibers convulsing because they still have electron energy running through them. Essentially the animal was killed before they brought to the table. (simple anatomy and science).”
A third follower chimed in with: “Real explanation: it’s actually bullfrog. The salt creates voltage difference which activates ATP molecules so the carcass will spasm (probs touched it by accident). And they’re not eating it raw, it’s called hot pot. it’s actually really popular asian cuisine. they give u the foods raw (vegetables, noodles, meat, etc) and then you cook it in the soup they give you and then you dip it in the sauce.”
However, no official details have been provided yet. The fact that the origin of the restaurant is unknown has further fueled some people’s theories that the video might be fake.
It does not look like other people at the restaurant were used to these kinds of scenes though, as the video shows many of them gasping in shock as the breast is moving away.
One voice can be heard saying “enough” at some point. No additional details about the video have been released yet, although many have been calling for more information already.
