A recent incident that took the life of 14-year-old Carson Crimeni has just become even more tragic, as it came to light that other teenagers were present at the scene and not only did nothing to help, but were recording the boy as he was dying, and were laughing at him.
The video of Carson being encouraged to take the drugs, falling ill, and eventually dying was later shared on social media.
The boy died of a drug overdose after being transported at a hospital in Langley Township, British Columbia, according to his father, Aron Crimeni.
Carson’s death was confirmed after Darrel Crimeni; his grandfather found his body on the sidewalk at a skate park.
A caption on one of the photos posted on social media showing Carson overdosing had the following note, “Carson almost died LOL,” implying that the kids were not aware of the gravity of the situation and their actions. The video reportedly appeared on Snapchat and Reddit.
After mocking and giggling at Carson, the disturbing group of teenagers left him alone, while he was wandering the nearby streets where he collapsed.
The boy’s father has been talking to the media about the sad event and pleading with the young people who took part in his son’s tragic death to come forward.
In an emotional interview with CTV Morning Live, Aron explained that he became worried after his son failed to return his calls.
Aron called his father and shared his concerns, and he decided to search near the school grounds hoping to find the boy.
Aron then received the most horrific call a parent could imagine, his father confirming that he had found the 14-year-old unresponsive on the ground.
Darrel reassured the father that an ambulance was at the scene and they were trying to resuscitate Carson, but also confirmed that he was in a “really bad shape.”
Aron recalled the heartwrenching conversation he had with his father: “Next thing you know, I got a call from my dad saying he found him. The ambulance is working on him. He’s in bad shape, really bad shape.”
The mourning father addressed the boys who took part in the alleged crime by saying: “They gave him more than anything they would have wanted. It was an amount meant to hurt him.”
He added: “This is the time where you do the right thing, or you don’t. You’ll remember it for the rest of your life. So do the right thing and phone.”
Many comments on social media have been strongly critical of the other teenagers seen in the video, calling for their prosecution.
Investigators are now looking into the people who were present at the scene, treating them as possible suspects.
The Langley Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have set up a tip line hoping the public will come forward with information.
The authorities confirmed that “multiple interviews have been conducted and we anticipate many more people will be interviewed in the coming days.” but they have not arrested anyone as yet.
The father made this painful yet moving confession about his late son in his interview: “We did everything together. I don’t even have anyone else to hang out with. He’s the only person I hang out with.”
A public celebration of life will take place soon, and a GoFundMe page has raised over $26,000 to help the family with various expenses such as medical bill and the funeral.
