A group of US citizens has reportedly been caught up in a crossfire involving Mexican drug cartels, and most of them have been killed in the shootout.

The group included several children, along with their mothers, according to reports.

Nine people, three female adults and six children, were murdered, and the tragic incident occurred near the border state of Sonora.

The victims were part of the Mormon community and had ties to the rumored sex cult, Nxivm. Nxivm leader Keith Raniere used to recruit nannies in the area and then moved them to Upstate New York, where the alleged abuse took place.

Julian LeBaron, a cousin of one of the mothers killed in Mexico, was interviewed in a documentary about Raniere.

Official statements indicate that the victims were not related to the cartels’ operations in any way, but were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A relative named Lafe Langford Jr. wrote on Facebook: “It is with heavy hearts and unspeakable sadness we inform you that the 2 missing Mothers… along with many of their precious INNOCENT children have been slaughtered and gone to their Rest.”

Victims include Maria Rhonita Miller, 43-year-old Dawna Ray Langford, and Christina Marie Langford, 31.

Other people have also been kidnapped by the cartels, according to official reports, and their whereabouts are still unknown.

The fact that the victims’ families have not been contacted with ransom demands yet seems to be worrying many, as this is not typical for local cartels.

Some are afraid that the kidnapped people will now be sold into slavery as part of the cartels’ ongoing business in human trafficking.

Not many reports have been released about the situation yet, and authorities have been keeping a low profile around the incident as well.

This has led some to speculate that investigators might be withholding information from the public.

However, given the highly sensitive nature of the incident, they may be doing so for the safety of the victims involved. Many have spoken out against the cartels’ actions in the meantime.

This has been a long-running story in the region, and many have criticized the Mexican government continuously for doing little against the threat of the drug cartels.

Some have even gone as far as to speculate that the government itself is in on these incidents.

President Donald Trump has reacted to the tragedy and has threatened war with the cartels.
