Leah Remini has decided to reveal some of the hardships that she has encountered because she decided to go on a crusade against the controversial church of Scientology.
The King of Queens actress grew up in the religion but decided to leave in 2013. Since exiting the church, Remini has tried by every means to expose what she calls the misgivings and the leaders, including Tom Cruise.
To get her message to the masses, Remini has launched a podcast and worked on multiple critically-acclaimed documentaries — including the Emmy-winning series, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.
Her decision to speak out against the powerful organization comes with some dire consequences.
In a recent interview, Remini revealed that she was punished for sharing embarrassing secrets about Cruise and other members of the Scientology church.
She was featured in a new project called Scientology: Black Ops that was given the green light, but it was abruptly canceled.
She believes that a few powerful Scientologists might have intervened to have the network pull the plugs last minute.
She confessed in a recent interview: “This show had been legally vetted since January by Channel 7. Up to 10 hours before it was going to air, it was still scheduled to go. The last-minute decision to kill it has Tom Cruise, Tom Davis, and James Packer written all over it.”
She also revealed that Cruise, via the church, has used lawyers and other methods to destroy people who go against them.
Remini made the following accusations: “Tom has for years used his church to torture his employees by sending them in for interrogations at their expense, causing a woman I know to go bankrupt simply because the hours she worked for Tom made it impossible for her to raise her family. She was interrogated and punished by her church for years, causing her to lose her home. These are some of the things Tom has done that never get talked about, and I think it’s time to change that.”
Remini, who has a net worth of $25 million, has revealed that she does not make money while taking down the Scientologists, au contraire, she is losing money.
She stated: “Documentary filmmaking is not the most lucrative business. By the way, when you do make money, it’s a lot of fcking work for a small amount of money. I can make more money in one fcking day doing acting, selling douches or tampons, then in the whole f*cking three seasons of The Aftermath.”
Remini has also revealed that she is “considering taking legal action” against the organization.
