Meghan Markle is learning that the saying “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” often applies to her life because she is a high-profile celebrity who has many foes watching her every move.
Like millions of people, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, paid tribute to the extraordinary Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Ginsburg, who died at the age of 87, from complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer, will mainly be remembered as a passionate fighter for women’s rights and a beloved feminist icon.
Ginsburg made history by becoming the second woman and first Jewish woman to sit on the United States Supreme Court.
Prince Harry‘s wife, hoping to reach a similar status with her speeches and charitable works, penned a powerful message explaining how Ginsburg’s remarkable life inspired her.
In a statement provided to E! News, Meghan said that she considers Ginsburg, a hero.
The Duchess of Sussex wrote: “With an incomparable and indelible legacy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg will forever be known as a woman of brilliance, a Justice of courage, and a human of deep conviction.”
Meghan went on to say: “She has been a true inspiration to me since I was a girl. Honor her, remember her, act for her.”
Indeed at the age of 11, Meghan was fighting against statements that she deemed sexist. A preteen Meghan wrote a company that used a slogan she disapproved of, and she was able to make them change it.
Some critics are angry because Meghan decided to use her title and made the tribute about herself.
A person, who is not a fan, said this: “She was older than those little girls in Cuties when RBG was given her position. When releasing a statement, it’s. She decided to make it about the deceased, not yourself. For MM to only release a statement through a Canadian gossip channel and not a respected news outlet speaks volumes. She is irrelevant in the country; she thinks she will one day rule. ?”
This social media user asked why did Meghan leave out Prince Harry from the statement by writing: “But, what did Harry think?? Guess he didn’t have a voice on this.”
Another critic penned this remark: “Her statement does nothing to help her. ? Perhaps someone should really sit with her and her PR team. I’m not really sure where to begin but the RBG would have put Meghan in place hard and fast. If she truly had followed her and admired her, her comment would be to lead by her example, not to making meaningless statements, and to ditch your ranked royal family title. You see, in the US, we fought to be independent of the RF, and still to this day are.”
Meghan will have to work harder to please some of her followers.
