Armie Hammer has quit the upcoming production of the comedy action movie Shotgun Wedding after messages were posted on social media allegedly sent by the actor.
Posted online by an account named “House of Effie,” private messages reported to be from 34-year-old Armie Hammer to an unknown recipient speak of sex fantasies including rape and cannibalism.
The screenshots include claims that Hammer is “100% a cannibal” and has cannibalistic fantasies, including “cutting toes.”
Armie Hammer has a bizarre video that surfaced that showed him in a hotel room in the Cayman Islands where he was supposed to be on holiday with his children.
The photos and videos from his alleged private Instagram account show a woman in lingerie is waiting on the bed on all fours.
He said: “Well… my ex (for a very good reason) wife is refusing to come back to America with my children. So I have to go back to Cayman… which sucks. Except there are a few silver linings. Like f–king Ms. Cayman again while I’m down there.”
An insider involved with Shotgun Wedding recently said the actor would be “stepping away” from the movie following the allegations and response on social media.
A spokesman confirmed that production company Lionsgate supported his decision, and work will begin to find a new actor for the role — which Ryan Reynolds was expected to play before Hammer was hired.
In a statement responding to the rumors around the scandalous messages, Hammer said that he did not feel right leaving his children for four months while the film was being shot, particularly since it would require him to travel to the Dominican Republic.
He appeared to be frustrated by the “vicious and spurious online attacks,” seemingly denying that the messages were sent by him.
Hammer also expressed his appreciation to Lionsgate for supporting his decision. Armie Hammer split from his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, in 2020 after they were married for a decade. In an interview with Playboy in 2013, Hammer spoke about himself as a dominant lover.
He confessed: “I liked the grabbing of the neck and the hair and all that. But then you get married, and your sexual appetites change. And I mean that for the better — it’s not like I’m suffering in any way. But you can’t really pull your wife’s hair.”
He concluded by saying that he has “too much respect” for his wife to do certain things he might otherwise want to.
After the interview, he was reported as saying, “don’t drink during an interview.”
He also made this wild confession: “One chick tried to stab me when we were having sex. I should so not be telling this story. She was like, ‘True love leaves scars. You don’t have any.’ And then she tried to stab me with a butcher knife. Of course, I promptly broke up with her… seven months later.”
The upcoming Shotgun Wedding, directed by Jason Moore and starring Jennifer Lopez, tells the story of a couple who are having second thoughts about their destination wedding.
Once celebrations are underway, their wedding is hijacked, and guests are taken, hostage.
