A source has claimed that Meghan Markle believes Prince Charles and Kate Middleton are among the senior royals who were leaking stories to the press while she was a working member of the royal family.
Prince Charles’ wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, was also named as a possible suspect for leaking stories to the media, according to the source.
The claims come after a turbulent week for the Sussexes and the royal family, with a formal inquiry being launched by Buckingham Palace into the way allegations of bullying made against Meghan Markle were handled.
One of the stories ran by the press while Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were still working members of the royal family involved the Duchess of Cambridge, who was reportedly in tears after a dress fitting ahead of Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018.
Earlier this week, reports that Meghan Markle had bullied members of staff at the royal household began to emerge, with heavy criticism about the way complaints had been handled.
Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were branded “bullies” by one member of staff, as a spokesperson for the Sussexes denied the allegations.
In the statement, the Sussexes’ spokesperson called claims that Meghan Markle had been “emotionally cruel” as a “false narrative,” despite reports that at least ten senior members of staff at Buckingham Palace are lining up to aid the investigation.
The review will focus on how complaints made by staff were handled in 2018, as officials are believed to have been aware of the reports but “did nothing about it.”
The accusations have come during a week when the world was waiting to see what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would reveal to Oprah Winfrey in their one-off interview.
In the tell-all that aired this Sunday in the US and on Monday in the UK, Meghan Markle spoke about the “turning point” that involved her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
Meghan Markle said that she cried because of Kate Middleton before her royal wedding. Meghan revealed: “And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding, and she was upset about something. But she owned it, and she apologized, and she brought me flowers and a note apologizing.”
She added: “I actually think it’s — I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologized. And I’ve forgiven her.”
