Grad Student, 24, Stabbed To Death While Working At Furniture Store — Suspect In Random Killing Still On The Run

Brianna Kupfer UCLA Graduate Croft House Furniture Store

Brianna Kupfer, a woman in Los Angeles, has died after being stabbed by a random attacker while at work last week.

Kupfer, a 24-year-old UCLA grad student, was killed by a random male last Thursday at around 1:50 p.m. while working at a furniture store in Hancock Park, LA.

The suspected killer, who is described as Black, tall, and very slim, entered Croft House furniture store in broad daylight and stabbed the victim, who was alone in the shop at the time.

Brianna Kupfer was working as a design consultant for the high-end furniture store alongside studying architectural design at UCLA.

The male suspect, who is still on the run from the police, is believed to be homeless and is described as a tall, thin Black male who was wearing a dark hoodie and jeans, a mask, and sunglasses.

He was seen on video footage shortly after the incident walking down an alley in a calm and collected manner.

The LAPD gave a description of the alleged killer in a statement that read: “The suspect is described as a male Black, unknown age, tall, thin, wearing a dark hoodie, sunglasses, a white N-95 mask, dark skinny jeans, dark shoes, and carrying a dark backpack. Based on evidence discovered by detectives, the suspect is believed to be homeless.”

Kupfer was found 20 minutes later by a customer who came into the shop and alerted emergency services.

She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene when police and paramedics arrived.

Riley Rea, who co-owns Croft House, said the company was shocked to lose “such as wonderful person” and said he was “disgusted” by the fatal attack.

Just before the stabbing happened, the suspect had visited a nearby chiropractor’s office and asked a few questions to Dr. Jennifer Botelho, who was working there.

He was only in the office for a few minutes, Dr. Botelho reported but asked some questions about what kind of care was provided and whether they offered orthopedics.

Herman Hinks works as a security guard across the street from the Croft House furniture store, had this to say about the brutal killing of the innocent woman: “I see her every morning. She comes in, she opens the shop. Real friendly woman. She’ll look back and wave. Everybody over here is friendly. We look out for one another in the area. Keep a close eye out. Just because there is a lot of transients that come through.”

Brianna Kupfer leaves behind a broken-hearted family, including her parents — two brothers, Brandon and Tucker, and her sister, Mikaela, who was her best friend.

Brianna Kupfer’s father described his daughter as “smart” and “devoted to her family.” She was loved by everyone and had big dreams, he said.

As of Sunday, police are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Bureau Homicide or get in touch with Crimestoppers anonymously.
