A royal expert recently said that Prince Harry often takes one step forward and two backward when it comes to his relationships with his British relatives.
According to a royal insider, that is precisely the situation Prince Harry now finds himself in with his older brother, Prince William, after sharing his decision to sue the British government.
Earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex, via his legal team, issued a surprising statement announcing that he had encountered several security issues with his plans to travel to the U.K. with his family.
The British prince hinted that, unlike the rumors, he would like to return home with Meghan Markle and their young children — Archie and baby Lilibet Diana.
Prince Harry did not beat around the bush and made it clear that he does not have the proper security that he and his family need to be safe in London.
The former soldier revealed that he contacted the Home Office to allow him to pay for the additional protection that he requires.
Not mincing his words, Prince Harry, a former soldier who is also in line for the throne and is a controversial political figure, enumerated all the threats that he and his family face daily and slammed the government for not cooperating with him.
He explained that because his offer to pay for the private security was denied, he had no choice but to file for a legal review of the case in front of the highest court in the land.
The statement read in part: “The U.K. will always be Prince Harry’s home and country he wants his wife and children to be safe in. With the lack of police, protection comes too great a personal risk. Prince Harry hopes that his petition — after close to two years of pleas for security in the U.K. — will resolve this situation.”
This is the first time that a member of the royal family has ever sued the British government and, therefore, Queen Elizabeth II, who is the head of state.
A royal insider spoke to the media and revealed that Prince William has conflicted feeling about the lawsuit filed by his brother.
On the one hand, he sympathizes with Prince Harry and fully understands and backs his desire to protect his family.
Prince Harry’s high-profile lawsuit will make its way to court this year and, therefore, grab some spotlight from Queen Elizabeth II’s celebrations for her Platinum Jubilee.
On the other hand, the heir to the throne is frustrated that Prince Harry has decided to yet cause an extra headache for the aging Queen, who went through health issues and has to handle the humiliation that Andrew is causing the British royal family.
The source, who spoke to OK, said that Prince William is appalled by the “unnecessary stress” he is putting the 95-year-old Monarch and added: “William sympathizes with Harry’s insistence on defending his family. But he’s appalled at how Harry’s handling the matter because of the stress it’s putting on The Queen and the monarchy.”
The insider went on to explain that Prince William believes that the matter is being handled poorly because Meghan Markle has managed to “brainwash” Prince Harry throughout the pair’s “ongoing drama with the rest of the royal family.”
Royal pundits and sources have revealed that Prince Harry will travel to London without Markle to attend the Queen’s Jubilee.
