Kamala Harris Puts Russian Invasion Of Ukraine In ‘Layman’s Terms,’ And Gets Trolled By Ted Cruz And Conservatives

Kamala Harris Explains Russia Joe Biden

Kamala Harris wants most Americans to understand what is going on in Ukraine after the Russian invasion last week.

The vice president explained the situation in simple words. Harris put the conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin in layman’s terms because some in the country have difficulty understanding why America is even involved.

While appearing on The Morning Hustle, the former Senator from California was asked to “break it down in layman’s terms for people who don’t understand what’s going on and how can this directly affect the people of the United States.”

The politician obliged: “Russia is a bigger country. Russia is a powerful country. Russia decided to invade a smaller country called Ukraine, so basically, that’s wrong.”

President Joe Biden‘s VP continued: “It goes against everything that we stand for there are terms that we use we say we respect the sovereignty the territorial integrity of countries, right? their independence. Russia has gone into Ukraine militarily unprovoked, with no justification other than to exercise its power to take over another country.”

Harris was asked to give more details about the sanctions and the apparent differences of opinion with Biden.

She replied: “We had sanctions before the actual invasion; we threatened sanctions to hopefully deter Russia from going in.” Harris later added: “So you know if you’re a parent and you tell your children to do this, the punishment is going to be that, right? And we hope that by doing that it will deter our children from doing the wrong thing, right? So that’s deterrence, so that’s where we started with the sanctions. And when Russia actually went in, we are implementing the sanctions.”

The president previously stated: “No one expected the sanctions to prevent anything from happening.”

People on the right were quick to mock Harris’s statements. The vice president has adopted a more simple style in recent weeks after polls suggested that Americans did not have confidence in her ability to do the job.

The president has also seen some abysmal poll numbers as the US deals with inflation, rising gas prices, and the coronavirus.

The invasion of Ukraine has added a new layer to the administration’s problems. On Tuesday, President Biden used the State of the Union address to offer a kind of reset to his first term in office.

The response has been somewhat positive, but it is not clear if this will be enough to completely change the trajectory of Biden’s approval ratings before the November midterm elections.
