When it comes to the Republican presidential primary debate, Donald Trump is once again toying with the media, his opponents, and some undecided voters.
The first debate will take place on Wednesday at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Experts in the political field believe the former president has merely decided to do a Sarah Palin; he is recharging to better reload against his adversaries.
This week, the billionaire real estate investor took to Truth Social, where he delivered the not-so-surprising news that he will not be taking part in the debates.
The former reality star wrote: “The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had. I WILL THEREFORE NOT BE DOING THE DEBATES!”
With Trump leading in the polls, he has decided that he will not risk it. Trump said on NewsMax: “If you’re leading by a lot, what’s the purpose of doing it?”
As the front-runner, Donald Trump’s policies, scandals, and controversial comments would be picked apart by Chris Christie and Ron DeSantis.
Trump has other reasons for bailing on the first debates: his ongoing war with Fox News. Trump said he will not be on the Fox debate stage because the network and its hosts are hostile toward him.
The Trump team, composed of family members and aides, has found itself in a new war with Fox News after they were told that surrogates for the former president would not be allowed to attend the debate.
According to the New York Post: “Fox News informed the Trump campaign on Monday that surrogates for the former president will not be allowed to attend the first Republican primary debate.”
Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, are hoping to convince Fox News to let them attend the big political event of the season.
According to political sources, Trump will only skip the first two debates because they are on Fox News. The insiders expect Trump to show up for the remainder of the debates, especially if his poll numbers take a hit.
With Trump not taking part in the first debate, it implies that Vivek Ramaswamy will be the mean target. RNC chair Ronna McDaniel said she hoped Trump would be present for the debate.
She said: “I’m still holding out hope that President Trump will come. I think it’s so important that the American people hear from all the candidates.”
Trump will steal the headlines post-debate with two big moves: he will have a major interview with Tucker Carlson and will fly to Georgia to be arrested.
Trump announced: “going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, [FANI WILLIS].”
Once more, Trump is the only dominating the headlines in GOP politics.
