Queen Elizabeth II left many surprised last week when she decided to ignore Meghan Markle‘s 41st birthday.
Respecting the tradition of sharing wishes on social media with royal family members, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles played their parts.
Despite the ongoing rifts and drama, all high-ranking working royals made sure to pen a brief but sweet message for Prince Harry‘s wife.
Her Majesty, 96, who is on a 10-week summer holiday in Scotland, remained silent — publicly at least.
One royal expert theorized that Queen Elizabeth snubbed Markle to protect Camilla Parker Bowles.
Markle turned 41 last Wednesday, but despite the royal tradition of wishing members of the family a happy birthday, the Queen remained silent.
Speculating about the reasoning for the absence, royal expert Daniela Elser claimed that Her Majesty might be frustrated by Prince Harry’s upcoming book, which will humiliate Camilla Parker Bowles.
Prince Harry, who promised to be honest and truthful in the book, is expected to dive into his childhood traumas, including his mother’s death and his father’s affair.
Her Majesty is not thrilled that the embarrassing past events will be dug up by Prince Harry and has therefore taken the measure as a warning shot.
The writer stated: “Something has clearly changed because here we have the Queen essentially blanking Meghan on her birthday; it may or may not have something to do with Harry’s memoir, rumored to be hitting shelves in October.”
She added: “Since the beginning of the year, there has been nearly continuous reporting claiming that Harry may well target his stepmother. The heir to the throne, it would seem, is already getting his starched and ironed knickers in a twist.”
Royal correspondent Richard Palmer revealed earlier this week that Her Majesty declined to send public birthday wishes to Markle because of a policy change.
He said the royal family “will only mark the birthdays of non-working members of the family when they end in a zero.”
Elser said if the Queen truly wanted to avoid creating tension with Prince Harry, she could have waited until after Markle’s birthday to enact to change in policy.
She claimed: “The bottom line is that no matter why the Royal Family decided to give Meghan the brush-off, being the first non-working member of the House of Windsor to come in for a regal blanking on their birthday has some serious sting in the tail. If Her Majesty had been concerned that cold-shouldering the LA native might inflame tensions or wanted to keep the peace with the fractious Sussexes, surely the palace would have waited to roll this new social media approach until after the Duchess’ birthday.”
Despite the Queen’s bold warning shot, the royal pundit said: “Harry may well target his stepmother.”
Some have speculated that there is a major possibility that Queen Elizabeth reached out privately to Meghan Markle via Zoom or Facetime and wished her a happy birthday.
