Charlize Theron has a message for those shaming her for her appearance — she did not get plastic surgery, like all living things, she is simply aging, and she is okay with that.
In an interview with Allure, the Oscar-winning actress revealed that at the age of 48, she is often asked about her changing face.
Some rude people even questioned if she had a botched facelift. Charlize Theron said that she has been blunt about her answer.
The South African actress stated: “My face is changing, and I love that my face is changing and aging.[But] people think I had a facelift. They’re like, ‘What did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I’m just aging! It doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. This is just what happens.'”
The Monster star told the publication that she is not planning to have plastic surgery anytime soon. Charlize Theron said that she hates the concept that men and women age differently.
Men — supposedly — like wine get better with time and women are like flowers, they lose their beauty with each passing day.
Theron claimed that is a foolish theory because women should have the right to age their way instead of abiding by the rules put in place in a society that often involves Botox, plastic surgeries, and facelifts.
The model shared: “Men kind of age like fine wines and women like cut flowers. I despise that concept and I want to fight against it, but I also think women want to age in a way that feels right to them.”
Charlize Theron, who has been the face of Dior’s J’Adore perfume line for almost two decades, explained how she feels seeing herself on giant billboards.
She confessed that people need to have more empathy towards others and added: “I think we need to be a little bit more empathetic to how we all go through our journey. My journey of having to see my face on a billboard is quite funny now.”
Charlize Theron went on to reveal that she hopes her children will not see age when they think of beauty.
She said: “They see somebody, they like what they’re wearing, or they think they’re pretty, and they don’t really know if she’s in her 20s, or she’s in her 60s. It’s so great. I love that. I wish we could just maintain that.”
While the actress is not focused on her face, she revealed that she had her 25-year-old body back for this reason: “More than my face, I wish I had my 25-year-old body that I can just throw against the wall and not even hurt tomorrow. Now, if I don’t work out for three days and I go back to the gym, I can’t walk.”
She also explained that she will not gain weight for a movie ever again. She added: “I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds’. When I was 27, I did ‘Monster.’ I lost 30 pounds overnight. I missed three meals, and I was back to my normal weight. Then I did it at 43 for ‘Tully,’ and I remember a year into trying to lose the weight, I called my doctor and I said, ‘I think I’m dying because I cannot lose this weight.'”
Charlize Theron revealed what her doctor said: “He was like, ‘You’re over 40. Calm down. Nobody wants to hear that.”
The iconic actress is setting her own rules in Hollywood.
