Taylor Swift is furious that the media has decided to weaponize and sexualize her friendship with females, including Glee star Dianna Agron and model Karlie Kloss.
Swift has decided to shut down the rumors that she is bisexual with a lengthy message that is included in the prologue for her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album.
The singer-songwriter explained that the rumors began after she decided to stop dating men because she was being “slut-shamed” and was given the tag of “boy crazy psychopath” who went on with “too many men.”
Taylor Swift confessed that she was terribly hurt by the mean comments and for a few months, she decided to focus on herself and hang out with other ladies, including Blake Lively, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and Abigail Anderson Lucier.
However, the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer quickly discovered that she would be criticized no matter what she did.
Taylor Swift wrote: “If I was seen with him, it was assumed I was sleeping with him. And so, I swore off hanging out with guys. Dating, flirting, or anything that could be weaponized against me by a culture that claimed to believe in liberating women but consistently treated me with the harsh moral codes of the Victorian era.”
The pop princess went on to reveal that she naively assumed that if she “simply changed” her behavior, it would “fix” the narrative, but she thought wrong.
She shared what happened next: “I swore off dating and decided to focus only on myself, my music, my growth, and my female friendships. If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn’t sensationalize or sexualize that, right? I would learn later on that people could and people would.”
This is not the first time that Taylor Swift has been forced to talk about her sexuality. In 2019, she did an interview with Vogue to deny the claims that she used the song “Me!” to come out of the closet as a queer woman.
Swift explained that while she is not a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, she has decided to use her voice to defend them and speak about issues that concern them.
The “Wildest Dreams” artist stated: “Rights are being stripped from basically everyone who isn’t a straight white cisgender male. I didn’t realize until recently that I could advocate for a community that I’m not a part of.”
She added: “It’s hard to know how to do that without being so fearful of making a mistake that you just freeze. Because my mistakes are very loud. When I make a mistake, it echoes through the canyons of the world.”
For months, rumors ran wild claiming Dianna Agron and Taylor Swift were romantically linked.
Agron addressed the claims by saying: “That’s more because of a friendship than being the inspiration for the song. But I would not be the person to ask about that. I cannot claim that! That is so interesting. Dating rumors. I… I mean, there have been many stories about my dating life that are so wildly untrue. That’s funny.”
It was also believed that Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift were an item.
