As it turns out, Donald Trump is not the most powerful person in the room when Melania Trump is by his side — his big personality shrinks.
According to one of Melania Trump’s former staff members, Donald Trump not only hears his wife’s demands, he bows down to them.
The Washington Post gathered information and interviews to shed more light on the surprising dynamic and power struggle between the conservative pair.
In an interview in the Post, Stephanie Grisham, a former top aide to former first lady Melania Trump, revealed that she was feared and admired in the White House because she was not afraid to share her opinion and make demands.
The former chief of staff and press secretary told the news outlet: “She was not afraid to speak her mind and make demands, even with her powerful husband. The attitude I admired about her is that she did what she wanted when she wanted to. She was pretty much the only person I’ve ever seen who he kind of bows down to.”
Staffers, who spoke anonymously to The Post, explained that Melania Trump comes and goes as she pleases during the campaign.
They also noted that when the former model is present, her bombastic husband is not the same man. Donald Trump dumps all inappropriate language and puts his aggression to sleep.
The staffers explained via the piece that Mr Trump is the one who suddenly becomes shy when Mrs Trump is around.
The publication shared: “Melania has often gone long stretches without appearing beside Trump, but even then she was often his first call after campaign events or when he needed advice. Staffers say they welcome her because Trump slashes his foul and crude language around his wife and behaves less aggressively toward others. And, according to one staff member, she is never shy about giving her opinion.”
Observers wonder if Melania also plays a role in terms of policy.
