Donald Trump has a comical side that seems to take over when he is on stage.
Oftentimes, the former president will use his joking skills to deflate the scandal of the day or to punch back against his political opponents or the Democrats.
Sadly for Mr Trump, often, his jokes and locker room banter fall flat, creating confusion or even leading to an embarrassing situation.
Recently, while on the campaign trail, the billionaire real estate mogul has been sharing some head-scratching jokes about President Barack Obama that are now causing him some trouble.
At multiple political events, Trump, the self-proclaimed humorist, made the bizarre decision to say that Obama is the current President of the United States instead of Joe Biden.
Forbes noted that Donald Trump has made the mix-up between Obama and his former vice president more than seven times in recent months.
A few political experts and journalists believed it was Trump’s way of never accepting the fact that Biden beat him during the 2020 presidential election.
However, most in the press and on social media believed that Donald Trump, 77, who is battling multiple court cases and investigations, was struggling with health issues or his age had caught up to him.
Even one of Trump’s allies, Megyn Kelly, weighed in on Trump’s constant mix-up of Biden and Obama to say that he was suffering from mental/cognitive decline.
The host of The Megyn Kelly Show told Sky News: “There is no denying Trump is suffering some cognitive decline; you can see it. He has now six times confused the fact that the sitting president is Joe Biden, not Barack Obama.”
She said that Trump was not joking and added: “And the first time I thought maybe it’s a joke, you know because there’s a belief amongst many that Barack Obama is the puppeteer and Joe Biden is the puppet. So maybe I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt, but it’s happening now repeatedly over and over again where you can see him not joking. He’s not making a thing out of it, he seems to say President Obama right now as though he’s the current president.”
Frustrated that no one understood his so-called sarcasm, Trump took to his Truth Social to say that he is mentally sharp, and he has a cognitive test to prove it.
Trump repeated the claim that he is just fooling around as part of a great strategy to take down his opponents. He wrote: “Whenever I sarcastically insert the name Obama for Biden as an indication that others may actually be having a very big influence in running our Country, Ron DeSanctimonious and his failing campaign apparatus, together with the Democrat’s Radical Left “Disinformation Machine,” go wild saying that “Trump doesn’t know the name of our President, (CROOKED!) Joe Biden. He must be cognitively impaired.”
He concluded by: “No, I know both names very well, never mix them up, and know that they are destroying our Country. Also, and as reported, I just took a cognitive test as part of my Physical Exam and ACED it. Also, ACED (a perfect score!) one taken while in the White House. Biden should take one so we can determine why he wants Open Borders, No Energy Independence, A Woke Military, High Inflation, No Voter I.D., Men playing In Women’s Sports, Only Electric Cars and trucks, A Weaponized DOJ/FBI, and so many other CRAZY things!!!”
Donald Trump’s announcement that he aced his cognitive test or that he is making jokes instead of gaffes did not convince Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who said: “The presidency is not a job for somebody that’s pushing 80 years old.”
Political pundits predict that Mr Trump will finally stop making this joke.
